Debate : Current spreading of the faction community : good or bad ?

The forumside factions are lacking a server hub. This is a good thing ? Or bad ?

    Does it really matter?

Factions choose their home(s). There is no need for all the factions to be located on one server. If it comes to war, then both factions will most likely raid their enemy's base of operations on their home server (if it isn't the same one).

Also, StarMade is StarMade, and StarMade is Alpha, and Alpha is laggy. Until more improvements come along, it's hard to tell what server really performs better.

That is almost impossible to happen, since Starmade is a hundred times more grindy then before, on the old days.

If you know what you're doing, it's still pretty easy to get set up on a server quickly. Besides, it'd be a good idea to set up an outpost with a few destroyers and miners on most larger servers besides your home server in case you need to launch an assault against someone.

Yeah, but for a foreign faction to make a assault using a few destroyers, while the "home" faction probably has it's fair share of titans isn't gonna work...

Well, no. But it'd be something for you to use while you prepare a larger fleet, as opposed to just dropping in with starter gear.

The way I see the future of the faction game going is this- Most factions aren't going to matter. In fact, it's already a lot like this. Most wars are going to be fought in server, between two factions that aren't set up on the forums, over in game resources. There will be a number of big forumside factions, like there are today, as well. The main difference being they'll have a lot of members- enough that they can support having multiple fleets on multiple servers easily.

nothing quite like getting your hands on a 500k block ship by spending only 100k credits on day one
I think it takes more than 24 man hours in some places, but it's still a much more reasonable investment than conventional warfare.

Most of that 24 hours is spent looking for a shop where you can sell 20k carved rocks, followed by finding a suitable victim. :P

Hopefully when this new "stellar diversity" is released, factions can finally have a reason to fight over territory.

Torches ? But that is easily counter-able with pulses...
Most ships don't actually have a pulse system in place. Some might but since you usually don't lose inventory on servers it doesn't really impact you too much.

Additionally, if you trap someone with no power via EMP, they might not even be able to fire the pulse off.

The game of countering torches with pulses is a tricky one. You can obviously buy time, but unless you make your trap complex (in which other failure points arise) it is incredibly easy to get around them. It just takes time.

SS makes you lose all inventory and 75% of credits, for example

IIRC EMP only takes effect if the shields of the ship are down. So you will need a gun, big enough to deal with this.

    It's just a uniform wave of insta-kill, I can't see a trick there.

If it's insta kill it has a reload or it can't cover the whole weapon effectively.
You are assuming that the output is located on the front, while the right thing to do is making it exactly close to the computer systems and the core. It also takes time to actually kick the core.

I'd hope for a PvP server where factions can test out their ships.
