Debate : Current spreading of the faction community : good or bad ?

The forumside factions are lacking a server hub. This is a good thing ? Or bad ?

I have decided to place that on the faction forums instead of the General Discussion, because this subject regards more to us, the forumside factions (big or tiny, doesn't matter).

Traditionally, there was always one specific server that received most of the factions in order for interaction to happen. On chronological order, NASS, Illusive and EE had the lead on their respective times. Multiple server action was easily affordable on the old days as well (for example, those times on HSZ) since the game did'nt had a lot of grinding.

But now, we lack a hub. Currently, there are people on GenX (N.O. , Odium, for example), SS (Helkan, another example) and even some still on EE (EH, a last example, not sure about it tho).

Do you think this is being a good thing or a bad thing ?

Of course, please keep the discussion on topic. Just in case.

I don't think it matters. People are going to play the game for what they like, different servers are run differently. GenX had the promise of better performance and more combat, but unforunatly had a block limit. EE (currently) promotes faction conflict. SS seems like it's a little more laid back and has an interesting config.

... And they don't succeed on accomplishing it, IMHO.
I had high hopes of the block limit and several rules meaning a good experience with less lag, but it suffers a lot on that point.

At this point it suffers due to the extremely high player count. No amount of rules can prevent that from being extremely difficult for a server to handle, I don't think - unless the server magically gets a dozen admins from around the world overnight to constantly patrol player positions.

    I think it's good that there's a nice spread.

The spreading of the factions helps to keep other servers relevant, I think, and means that there's always an option to go out and do something else if your current server isn't working out well.

I honestly dislike the tendency of big factions to go to a single server.

Just so you know, SS has it's own dedicated box now. From what I heard, player clients crashed and burned before the server hiccuped. If you want performance I suggest testing it out and seeing if it's worth it :D

    Hmm... I am interested...
Oh yeah, wait. I am completely and utterly factionless for right now. Go figure.

Now, for my own input, I think this is bad. There are less chances of something actually happening now (the only feature starmade has aside from building is fighting. so wars are a must to keep the willigness to play filled) since serverside factions are (mostly) less likely of looking for trouble.

You can go to servers where pvp is encouraged. You can find factions which wish to fight you. Factions being on separate servers means their leaders want different things.

The game couldn't really have multiple hubs until recently, because the configs weren't as big. EE, SS, and GXN all have vastly different environments due to rules and configs.

I think it's good. If you're unhappy with one server, you can move to another.

    Having multiple hub is good.

If you aren't happy with how a server is ran, you can always change servers. Back then, to do that means you will be alone in space. Now there will always be something.

Gotta say, SS could use another big faction on it, right now I can't even get the Public server pop to participate in a friendly fight because no one has the capacity to field decent sized ships.

Well, there is always Event Horizon on SS.

Maybe some admin arranged fun skirmishes could be had between you two.

Few will care about sole-serverside faction wars. That's my problem.
I want to fight not only for fun, but for adquiring respect and acknowledgement over the forums.

Acquiring respect via faction battle is difficult to do. You have to convince yourself and your opponent that there is no insult in injury.
