SCOUT - Flit Class Twin Pulsar

SCOUT - Flit Class Twin Pulsar 2017-03-11

I really like the 3-winged design of the Pulsar. The overall shape of it is very aesthetically pleasing, but I have two ideas (for consideration):

    1) Turrets on the sides
I think it could be a good idea to have small turrets of the sides of the ship, not even necessarily ones that can rotate horizontally (relative to the ship's body). A few small laser cannons that rotate up and down and allow for some automatic fire.

    2) Wings that fold for docking
The wings - as I said - are a great aesthetic feature, but allow for docking almost in custom bays. I noticed that they are attached via rails, so there is potential to do some light modification to allow the wings (using ship inner controls) to fold up for docking, similar to Star Wars' famous Lambda-class T-4a shuttle, or commonly known as the Imperial Shuttle.

Overall it's a great build, and I will be checking out your other creations!

Thanks for the informative review, CrazyRed.

Folding wings are certainly possible, except that the angle I have them on is in fact a turret mounting point, and manually controlled to an angle other than 45 degrees... it's about 30 degrees.

Turret angles can't be controlled by logic, so it would be an inconvenient process to fold these wings out and in... I went for an aesthetic and different angle rather than an adjustable angle. This is something I've done on a few of my builds... it breaks up the boxiness of builds, especially on large scales, when you can get away from the 0, 45, 90 degree angles of everything.

Turrets on the sides would indeed be pretty neat, but I avoided any additional unecessary weight to increase the jump drive recharge rate. It would be a very easy thing to place a turret mount on the sides and plop a small (Aegis class for example) turret on either side - almost no work at all. Worth considering for any player that would prefer firepower over jump drive recharge rate.
This ship has a beautiful sci-fi design, kind of like a space Nautilus (i.e. the sea creature). It proves that we can build our smaller space crafts too with creative geometry. Job well done! :-)

Thanks DSM. I set out to build something unique in form but also useful as a standalone raider. I'm not very experienced with system design so there's room for improvement as far as performance goes.
Absolutely great looking ship !!!! i'm jealous.
