I forget the sizes and blocks used as you can see the old pirate station in the one pic is roughly the size of the turret barrels.
it was quite huge in the end. but for all the constant upgrading and rebuilding it was a real pain in the ass!
A great deal was holding all of the power cards I had made think like 50 0f them was used as they were ships as well the turrets also had it's own power as well and could be lanched as ships too, it also housed the B-Wing squadron as also the bottom had two orbitial turrets that split in the middle of the ship and hung down wards which are being redone in the 2nd picture.

You had to go way back just to take a screen shot of it and on servers my ship had to be far away from spawn due to the lag ot caused it...
You had to be sectors away from it or it would blast you one shot you basically

The top cannon turret was for dropping shields for a one hit wonder.
from a side barrage you had 8 Titian turrets facing you and the top cannon as it was designed to fire forwards and backwards as the turrets were on steps of height.

From far off it looked like a floating factory 🏭or a space station of sorts for all the lighting I had on it -> navigation lights
in the earlier version when they had sound the rounds use to make this crazy noise if you flew by them or they passed by close enough.

Oh well the good ole days - cheers guys

I had added to make the top turret at the end of what the game would support. It was designed for shields, but it became just too big in the end. Most players are not going to have 99.9% shields on their ships. I was curious about what the limits of the ceiling were. As you can see, the blocks were raised just to make the testing room for it, as the purple lady stopped flashing. Which was still overkill.
The one-hit wonder. Ships this size had to be made in pieces for the cost factor limit servers had on blueprints, which was also a factor.
Plus, the war or battle would be fought from the sector's ranges with the bobby AI on. As one might warp a sector away, which my ship fired and a moment later, so and so just died without ever seeing what occurred, like the pirate station, my ship's cannons turned and fired once and went back to positions and curious to what they shot at, next sector over was the pirate station. Where the pirate turrets were on mounted post columns, as you see, they are utterly missing.

As you can see, a full operational pirate station, it really becomes not much of a game after this; you lose the intended gameplay after this point. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's cool and all to make the big ship, to say you did that. But the first time you take the station out and get the goodies is the fun part with a basic fighter you made, and the time you rob it and scavange it.

There is also a lot of shipbuilding burnout, just making Titans or having to rebuild them to keep up with game changes, as the idea of the game is no longer "fun" in building Titans, or you can not see it all in the frame, you're in, going far past your field of view and you need to be at 20km away from it just to take a screen shot of it, and lose all the details.

Ideally, to have a capital ship navy type thing, where the block count on the pirate station is all you get to use for length, height, and width perimeters for each ship or expressed as within mass as well. since you may want hardened blocks for the exterior. That will keep your gameplay fun, even if you fight others just for that purpose.
My purpose is to do storytelling... in a different universe 🌌of sorts. where a hero-sized ship is used against galactic bullies and other stuff. As it is a found and bound in destiny vs the ships produced by the Earth Space Forces.

It's a sorted Hybrid than the original yet still follows the original look. The storytelling is similar to Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers, which was a narly show in my youth, as an era of uniqueness. Even my son fell for that years later, as it's a fantastic ship and storyline manga.
It's now trying to express the manga storyline, how a group of people came together to build from the impossible.

I miss the old days so much.
I miss the old days too, although I think most of that is me missing having an active playerbase to interact with in servers. There are other things like having fewer weapon combinations to mess with but generally I think starmade now is just about as good as it has ever been, we can build larger than in the early mid 2010 era, internal balancing is better and performance is still about the same as it once was despite everything being bigger. There are problems like the prevalence of old power systems in the game and actual long term content other than building and player driven activity but at least the old power stuff should be fixed by the UU.

As for the actual topic of the thread, I have a 2,600 meter mobile base ship I started in 2019 and worked on and off on until 2024 until it got too large for my PC to load it in. I did along with my friends make this 6 Kilometer across ring world station on the Systemhack server in 2023. It's not a ship, but it's still the largest ship or structure I've ever seen in multiplayer. There's a hard cap in starmade to how far out on a structure you can build before the game starts rendering stuff incorrectly, I.e The Bow of a ship floating off to the side of where it should be, I want to say its around 8 Kilometres but I know its definitely present at 10km, I turned a perfect ring into something looking more like an Xbox logo. I will also say building thigs Beyond I'd say 1.2km becomes more trouble than its worth for pratical reasons, Squabant once sent a fleet of ships to attack this ringworld and it was a right pain to repel it purely because it took the station 5 mins to load in and render the turrets, and another 15 due to the slughish performance of having to render so many chunks.
