Spot on. Knowing your about to get your @$$ handed to you hand retreating is also viable. While I do understand that it can be annoying when these tactics are used they are very successful pirate/privateer tactics. What you're describing is actually solid military tactics on their part.
They were fighting smart, you were just being stubborn.
you forgot alex... what are jump inhibitors for 500 Alex? What are jump inhibitors for 500
Why do you even play on plublic survival survers if you don't like other people interacting with you or your faction? To be fair, most of the time I've been in combat, it's because someone *else* came out and attacked *me*. By doing so, they're giving me permission to destroy their entire ship, rather than allow them the chance to come out of it with only a couple blocks lost. Coming out and disrupting my activity is more annoying to me than having their shields dropped is to them. It's not a "victory" if they aren't annihilated, because every single time I've had that happen, they've come back five to ten minutes later with their ship completely intact. It's not about the battle, it's about the grief factor they generally want to put out.
Not to mention two vs. one scenarios. I've been in a case where I would shoot at one person and drop their shields to 10%, then they'd jump out of sector with a one block emergency JD while the other person fought and they recharged their shields and jumpdrive. They went back and forth on that until I died, solely because I was unable to disable their jumpdrives by any means whatsoever. Mind you, I did have an intact and functional jumpdrive, I just refused to use it because I'm not a buttmunch.
Usually it's the people *using* the mini jumpdrives who want to hurt the other guy, not the other way around.
It's not a complaint. It's a statement. I personally only have problems with people interrupting my business repeatedly within a short interval after I should have been able to totally halt their attack. Endless harassment over a long period of time due to the inability to shut down their jumpdrive was a problem, and I was responding specifically to Edymnion's claim that Jump Inhibitors harm people who don't want to fight. Point being, his idea that the attacker is the only one that wants to destroy enemy ships completely is false, and I provided lots of backup to that point. Why do you even play on plublic survival survers if you don't like other people interacting with you or your faction? You complain about people attacking you but then complain about having to go out and search for potential kills.... I don't get it.
Also, jump inhibitors, they're available now so there's no reason for the situation you described to happen again.
Yea, I realized my misunderstanding and edited my post before you responded. It's not a complaint. It's a statement. There's also a difference between "searching for kills" and "searching for a very specific person to kill" - and we have the latter, not the former. You can't just go out and expect to run into a random person to fight against, because the universe simply does not work that way these days. The chances of ending up in the same sector as another player without intending to are pretty much nil. This means that every single attack or kill is a personal thing, which in turn causes rage and shitstorms far more than simply running into a pirate and getting ganked in any other game. You can't go out thinking "Oh, I think I'll go kill someone" - you have to think more along the lines of "Oh, Keptick's online. Let's go kill him for the tenth time." or whatever.
Aye. That's my thinking as well. Or they can use a jumpdrive specialist ship that overpowers inhibitors. None of this silly "poke them with a stick and run away before they smack you" crap, though.Tbh people that don't want to fight could just install 2-5% overdrive, that way they could just outrun the enemy and get out of inhibitor range.
