I honestly like the screen in the OP better. It looks a lot more futuristic and tech like than this one. Will we have the option to chose between the two?
Yes, I can do it. And I will make it so that themes can dictate which layouts they support. Suggestion is on the list for version 1.0 :)

    UPDATE!

Updating multiple installs is now actually working. i did silly and messed a bit of it up, so it basically did nothing. it is working now though. also, when a starmade update comes out, instead of waiting until you want to update, then downloading and installing it, to make things easier for my head, when starlaunch launches, it will check for an update. if found, it will download it without prompting the user, with a nice little download bar in the corner of the screen. this will not interfere with starlaunch in anyway, and will continue to run if starmade gets launched until the download is completed, and it will close itself.

    Pictures!

    Main screen

Update screen. this allows for the updating of multiple installations at once.

New install / first run screen

    Download progress notification thingy

this shows when starlaunch launched if you don't have the latest version, and will download it for you

the boxes around buttons can be ignored. they are a bug within .NET4.5, one i hope I can nail out before release by messing around with the buttons settings

Things will look better and more cleaned up soon. I still have a fair bit of college work to get done, so i am only able to work on this during the rare day or 2 I have free between tasks

Also, would people like a more advanced settings editor built into starlaunch? something that could edit the advanced settings of the connection manager and the server settings file

Release it before asking for feedback ;)

College is starting to wind down, and I have a week off coming, so lots of work may get done, depends on how much work I get crammed in to the next few days :)

Excellent, as I always say to myself: "Life over Leisure".

Megacrafter127 is working on a java translation for mac and linux, but the windows version by me will probably get updates sooner.

The possibly major differences between the Java and .NET version will be:
The internal management of the instances(the Java version might not be able to access instances created by the .NET version), where UI-elements(buttons, text areas, etc.) are located, font, and texture.

rimmer and I will try to keep all noticable differences at minimum though.

Starlaunch for windows generates the folders in C:/starmade/starlaunch/installs/[Installation Name], so it should be easy for them to see each others :)

I have finished the necessariest features of the java version. As rimmer and I agreed on, the java version will kill itself, if it finds itself on windows, to avoid a conflict between the .NET and java version.
As this is the first release, and I didn't have enough time to finish all features or optimize the UI, it might look a bit crappy. But I did(and still do) have to catch up with the work rimmer has already put into the .NET version.

To prevent confusion, here's a list of features, that'll come soon:
    • Automatically downloading pre- and devbuilds
    • Cloning an instance(the button currently does nothing)
    • Backing up an instance(the button currently does nothing)
    • Adding blueprints and skins to instances
    • Descriptions of builds displayed in the designated textpane
    • Changing the memory settings.
To prevent further confusion, here's a list of known glitches/bugs:
    • A deleted instance only disappears from the list, when the window is resized or another instance is installed.
    • After launch, if no instances are installed, the list of instances isn't wide enough.
And last but not least, the download link:
This is considered a test-build, the officially released java version of starlaunch will be found elsewhere!
    StarLaunch.jar

It'd be kind of anyone, who has the ability to run the java version of starlaunch, to give me some feedback in order to improve the java version.
