I've set up hundreds of Minecraft servers without a single hiccup, but I can't figure out why no one can connect to one of my servers. I've portforwarded, I've tried different ports, I've tried turning off the firewall, and I can connect locally but not outside my network. The port is opened, I've tried UDP and TCP (in setting as well) and I've tried on a different network, I really don't know what I'm missing. I'm using command line rather than the GUI but both produce same results. I've raised the memory limits as well and made sure I've got 64 bit java only.

    Same here...

I have 4 systems, i can launch and use a server from the same system but I cant log in to it from any of the other systems (tryed hosting it from 2 diffent systems) but yet minecraft and freelancer servers work fine? Its gotta be a bug

I have the same problem here.
Ports forwarded, firewalls are off. I think this really could be a bug.

    • Tester
start your server .. try to connect .. after failing provide the server and client log files for that test here (Serverlog.txt.x and log.txt.x) with the appropriate time stamp

Local connections are possible, however any connection from anything other than the LAN will fail.

    Here are the logs.

I have tried all possible solutions but I just cannot connect from outside the LAN. All ports are forwarded, firewalls are disabled, antivirus has been disabled, tried different ports, etc but I cannot find a reason for not being to connect. Please help.

did you change that line in the log file ?
if not ... "serveriphere" would mean to put in your servers ip there

As it stated "TCP failed" are you sure you allowed java to open a server-port?
On first start on a system there is a dialog, asking if javaw.exe is allowed to open a port.
If you deny that, the connection will stay local forever.

Please check your firewall settings about this. If a local connection works, its nothing with the game.
It works for all, or for no one.

As I said in my post, all my firewalls were turned off and it still did not work. However, just to be sure, I reset Windows Firewall and added an exception for Java. Still nothing.

so the connection that isnt working looks something like :

PC1 (Server Hosting SM) -> Localnetwork infrastructure -> PC2 (Game Client) ... that isnt working and on both Local PCs the Firewalls are of ?

also .. general advice: Desktop isnt a good place to run programs from in anycase

Yes, essentially. I have a bad habit of making new folders and placing programs in them.

Okay, hm, but both clients can connect to random server from the built-in serverlist, right? (To make sure nothing it blocking traffic for starmade from ISP side)

If thats fine, please make sure did not edit your server IP settings.

SERVER_LISTEN_IP = all //Enter specific ip for the server to listen to. use "all" to listen on every ip
"all" is fine for most cases, however if you for example altered it to "192.168.2.10" (to represent the local ip in your network for example) it will not accept any other "target ip". So if you made a port forward correctly, but told the server it is "192.168.something" it wont listen to your "external ip" anymore.
If you put your "external ip" there, you may not be able to play on it from your local network.
So please make sure its still set to "all" without the " and it was not edited. (This is only useful when your computer has multiple network interfaces and you want to make sure it only listens to a specific one)

This is the last idea I have for "game side" problems, any other thing should be related to your computer/network setups.
However, the "port" option in the first launcher would allow moving the starmade port to a port you may have used for another game before, to make possibly make sure its not a missing setting from anything else.

Sorry for the delay. The SERVER_LISTEN_IP setting remains at "all". My ISP does not appear to be blocking StarMade connections and I have tried different ports. I have tried everything but nothing works.

Okay, then lets possibly got to a lower level.

What are you exactly doing to start the server?
You start the dedicated server on one machine, and then a local client on another machine?
Or were you using single-player mode and opened it to the outside?

(Dedicated server and client from same directory do not work in some cases)

    http://help.star-made.org/support/solutions/articles/5000515046
Please follow this guide to create a new reference installation, and use one computer as dedicated server, forward all relevant ports to it (4242 on default settings) and let someone connect to it. Now get the logs from that installation and upload them here. (The guide contains where to search for them).
If this was successful, zip the logs and clear the /logs directory,
now try "single-player" with the server and let the other computer try again.
Zip those logs too, and upload/attach them here.

Will look into them, and compare the outcome. (The second test is only needed when the first one worked.)
