Currently, the ship yard basically deconstructs the ship, then, reconstructs the ship from its blueprint. THis process is played to the player/viewer.
What if instead of playing the deconstruct animation, a Holographic green bar (Similar in style to the shipyard design ships) passes slowly along a ships longest Axis. (This will show that the shipyard is "scanning" the ship for damage, etc)
Either during this "animation" after the bar passes each chunk that is combat (Or star...) damaged, checked it, then repaired it. Or, the ship is completely repaired after the bar passes its complete length, which accounts for the reconstruction phases.
This is only a thought - I never really use Shipyards because they are still bugged to hell sometimes - but I think it will make a nice little change to the experience in using the shipyard when they get fixed sometime SOON (tm)
