was doing some testing with the new effects when this idea hit me. now that we can fire off computers with the logic blocks i was wondering if i could use it with then useless push thrust effect. and what do you know it WORKS!

I was able to successfully make cruse control on some of my other ships. it works extremely well on small ships.

only problem is that the overall thrust seems to decrease exponentially the more massive the ship. With a ship that has a mass of around 4500 and with around 1500 blocks i was only able to go about 10 km/s. none the less i just want to put this out there so ppl can improve on it over what i discovered.

here is the circuit break down.

    Good luck out there.

This is not the way I thought autopilot would be added to the game.

Funny, I had the exact same idea. Looping a push effect to achieve actual cruise control...
Looks like I won't have to spend time fiddling with the logic, thanks. :D

    Cool little feature.

It would be a shame if someone used it in malice, for example copy pasting some armed-to-the-teeth drifting warheads in all directions.

    That would be just wrooooong.

They should let salvage computers be connected to plexstorage, then we can have automatic mining.

was curious about the same thing and found out the hard way that it doesn't work. It did give me another idea for grapple beams though

Thanks for this. I am curious as to what role the or gate does.
from my testing, the or gate does nothing. its just a spacer to allow the signal to go back and forth. but i was hoping someone with a better understanding of the logic system could design a better circuit.

The easiest would be a standard clock:
    • 1 AND gate + 1 DELAY gate + 1 NOT gate
    • the links go: AND => DELAY => NOT => AND
The control input is the AND gate. Controls:
    • To start the clock, emit a permanent ON signal to the AND
    • To stop the clock, remove the ON signal from the AND
The outputs of this clock are the DELAY or AND, and the inverted output is the NOT

My computer's still down, but I really want to tear at these logic blocks! I've got some experience designing circuits, so this should be really fun to work with.

Traps that trigger at random intervals, Blast screens, Pod ejectors, hell yeah logic!

OR gates, if I remember correctly, will turn on if and only if a single input is on.

Which we unfortunately lack (it would make adders require less blocks and linking).

So what you're saying is we can use these to build self propelling disintegrator missiles?
