Uh, that's exactly what one of my chairs would do if it wasn't linked to anything.

(The name change was a separate issue; I only mentioned it first because so-called "cockpits" which are really just cameras will be replaced with seats, which would be the more proper main component of a built cockpit.)
lol np Ithirahad, sorry but I like cockpits for cams, since I stash them in strategic locations around my ship so I can observe boarding crews or ships docking etc etc. and I like the core as a core. I do not want the core a cockpit or anything as such. I am not saying you actually said that or whatever ,I am just adding to why I just want a simple chair we can sit on. :) and I briefly skimmed that thread when it was first published... and I thought I agreed with you on the chair bit...if not I do apologize for not doing so. Also, since we are getting all these little updates, why not re-mention something as simple as this? Maybe Schema can write some quick code.....

edit: also if this makes odd sense....lol ..sorry ,I took some meds for massive migraine and I am tired as all hell...

now these points are great. :) ,however I do not want the core replaced. I like the core being a core.
The core would remain a core, it just wouldn't control the ship. (Or it wouldn't be the only entry point but you could still use it)

Actually, I disagree. The Core should retain all of it's current properties, including the ability to disappear into it. This is to allow people to build very small ships, and small non-AI operated turrets. However, with the chair linking feature you have the option to make a more immersive ship with realistic cockpits etc.

well, that's what I meant when I said " I like the core being a core " ..hence everything that goes with that, like we currently have.

Some of the mushroomfleet shipwrights have built dockable chairs. They serve mostly as escape vehicles when the bigger ship is AI controlled and about to kick the bucket.

I think this is deserving of a bump. I would also like to add a "Passenger Module" idea, it would essentially be a block that allows you to go inside. These could be used as space in an escape pod where space is very limited. Perhaps they should have about 5% armor and 100 HP to keep them from dying super quickly, and give an advantage over the chair.

Ok. Instead of bumping a 2 month old post make a new one and link this one in the OP. Instead of talking about good ideas in old threads let's see fresh threads giving the ideas much needed love. I agree this idea needs to be revisited but necro bumping is not the way to do it.

Why not? Surely creating new threads about the same things just clutters the board up?
