I added teeth to my ship. It looks way better now.
But it still needs some work to make it look better when viewed from the front. I'm not sure what to do about that yet.
When viewed from the side it looks tall and thin. But when viewed from the front you realize how fat the ship really is. But it's gotta be fat to keep my ultimate interior safe. I'm trying to have at least a 12 block buffer between the outside shell and the interior walls. I'm not sure if it really makes any difference how deep the interior is buried, but it makes me feel safer.
I'm still working on my ship, even though I haven't posted recently. I was going to name my ship "The Majestic", because of all the effort I'm putting into the interior, but since the outside ended up looking creature-like, I'm not sure about that name anymore? I think my nephew said something about "The Behemoth".
Here's some recent outside pics, in case anyone has any great name ideas.
Cafeteria
Pool Room - I saw the star trek enterprise listed as having one, so why not I
Ship-store - Where people can buy mp3 players, candy bars, or pipes
Simulator Room - for training or recreation, I imagine people probably have to schedule ahead to get some free time in the simulator room.
I recently felt motivated to do some exterior detailing on my nomadic mothership. This finally puts it in a fairly complete state. I still need to make some small ships to dock into the various hangers. My plan is 2 combat corvettes in the rear hanger, and numerous shuttles, cargo crafts, and maybe a fighter or two in the front hanger.
I ended up putting the aux reactors in the belly of the ship. It was kinda tough to find a place for them. Because I didn't want them near the outside of the ship, or my interior.
Goals...
- to make an everything ship (combat capable, cargo space, salvage array, much interior, shuttle hanger)
- to make a ship large enough to defeat groups of npc faction ships
- to make a ship small enough to be easily craftable in survival (standard armor)
Right now it is an empty shell with no turrets. I am currently working on the interior.
I will probably post this on the dock for download, since it's more detailed than what I have done in the past.
Also, I did some beam weapon testing after searching the forums for any posts in the last year talking about beam weapons, and then made a phab ticket for beam damage a couple days ago. I've always liked the idea of having some good beam/beam turrets. I would like to fill my ship with long-range Beam/Beam/Overdrive turrets. I feel that they would make up for the ships slow turn rate in combat.
Trying to make good shuttles for my Harmony ship hanger.
This was my second attempt at making a shuttle craft for my ship's hanger. It's hard to make a good shuttle craft without it looking like a "chubby shuttle".
Stats...
Thrust to Mass Ratio - 2.5
Shield Capacity - 3495
Shield Regen - 55/s
Cargo - 900
Seating - 10 people
