What about a space station ?
    Galaxy Class Shipyard
Space stations work the same way since your getting either .sments or zips they still go into the blueprint catalog.

Though if the stations download is a sector export you will have to use the import command which I don't exactly remember right now. (99% of stations are usually of the first two types now and it's pretty rare to run into sector exports so you should be fine.)

Unfortunately, the zip file method doesn't seem to work anymore. Tried blueprints and default blueprints. Made sure it had the data and 3 files, but won't show up in catalog ingame or in imports. Tried replacing an existing ship and nothing.

Nevermind, it seems i was running the program differently than perhaps most, the uploading of zipfiles does indeed work. Thanks for the guide.

So here's a question I have been dying to find the answer too... How do you import downloaded Ships that have no SMENT file??? They have an smd2 file... And the Importer won't see this file for some reason... I search all over the folder it came in after unzipping but there is nothing that registers in the importer as a loadable file... Help please???

    Secret .SMENT = .ZIP

Rename the .smd2 file to .sment

Import as normal via catalog manager.

StarMade is terribly anal. If things don't comply 100% than it won't do it. The ship manager should have know how to use it's own smd2 files from the get go. And if a .zip file comes with a named folder containing the blueprint then it wont understand either. Your not the only one that hit that brick.

btw chunk 32 installed blueprints now read as .smd3 same story

.smd files do not contain the whole blueprint ... you will miss meta data, logic and header ... doing that and you can expect problems

Thank you for the answer. This is a question I asked a very long time ago when we were still on the original website and WAY before Logic came into the picture. We were just starting the 3d model usage through that ancient and faulty editor smedit. I kept getting ships that were not sment files but the Manager was seeing MOST, but not all of those. Then there was the planet update from the cylindrical to the more shapely planets we have now. And suddenly most of the ships not under Sment were not being seen. And I always wanted to know but never could get an answer for it. So many beautiful ships were passed up because of this issue. :( And to bad some of the OLD ships are now useless since the upgrades... But that's life I guess... Thanks again...

So I have seen quite a few people confused on how to upload or download ships. I have decided rather than answer them one at a time on threads irrelevant to this topic ill just post a thread here.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL A .SMENT FILE

    Step 1. Download the .sment.

Step 2. I suggest keeping all the .sment files you download in a folder specific to .sment files. You will have to create said folder yourself.

Step 3. Open the Starmade Launcher.

    Step 4. Click Launch.

Step 5. Select Mods and Tools, then catalog manager. If you are in fullscreen you may need to alt tab to see the manager.

    Step 6. Click Import.

Step 7. Using the file explorer find your .sment file or your folder with the .sments in it.

Step 8. Click it and then import.

Step 9. It should now be findable in your Ship Catalog Manager. At this point you can now start the game and you will find it in the Available Section of your in-game catalog.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL A ZIPPED SHIP OR SHIPS

    Step 1. Download the ZIP.

Step 2. Open the zipped folder and copy or cut the ship folders inside.

Step 3. Go to Starmade > Blueprints and paste.

Step 4. At this point you can load up the game as normal.

(While this process is clearly easier there is a chance the Blueprint could be corrupted or damaged.)

HOW TO UPLOAD A .SMENT FILE

Step 1. Save your blueprint in-game.

Step 2. Exit the game and use Step 3 -5 of the HOW TO DOWNLOAD A .SMENT FILE.

Step 3. You should be in the Ship Catalog Manager click the ship blueprint you saved and now click export.

Step 4. Navigate to Starmade > Blueprints > Exported.

Step 5. Find the .sment of your ship.

Step 6. Minimize the file explorer and go to Starmadedock.net.

Step 7. Go to community content and click upload (You must be signed into an account).

Step 8. Select the category that goes best with your file.

Step 9. Select upload content. Use the opened file explorer to navigate to your .sment use the file explorer you minimized earlier as reference.

Step 10. Add descriptions version strings and titles and image icons to explain your ship you can also upload images or use an external image website such as imgur to add the images in that case you want to use the HTML Tag version.

Step 11. Submit and wait for admin approval.

HOW TO UPLOAD A ZIPPED SHIP

Step 1. Go to Starmade > Blueprints and find the ship or ships you wish to upload right click and hover over send to then click compressed Zip Folder.

Step 2. Locate the zip it should be at the bottom of your blueprints folder I suggest you cut it to somewhere else.

Step 3. You can either upload it like the .sment put it on an external site such as dropbox or mediafire or upload it to a thread comment.
thanks for the tutorial, it's pretty easy to follow
