I dunno, they almost seem to be missing structural integrity; too thin where forces from the thrust would, er, rip the thrusters into pieces. Might implement a few bits of my sturdier battleship/battlecruiser thrusters tomorrow and see how that turns out.
You mean those whisker-like thingies? Maybe try to add crystals not only to the end points, but along the whole thing—you know, like the nacelles on Trek ships. Then, just say that these aren't thrusters, but necessary for maintaining some kind of field that's necessary for the thrusters to work in the first place. Problem solved. :)

Here be the main thruster of my procyon frigate :)
Tech: chemical propulsion (the procyon is relatively aged, trustable and sturdy in my lore).
In landing mode (a RP requirement for all my larger ships to have toggleable landing gear and a method of access assuming the ship is docked on a flat ground area), the light emitting parts of the main tube are covered in plexdoors.

Now put a gap inbetween the crystals and some engines, and use the enhanced thruster plume mod.

    From a WIP:

If you want even a modest 1:2 thrust ratio in a ship pushing a couple million mass, the engines need to be big. Very big. These put out 1,050,000 thrust versus 1,330,000 mass (and climbing).

Instead of the big circular openings that most science fiction starships have, I wanted my super-titan to have giant bell nozzles that sharply contrasted with the "flying brick" appearance of the rest of the ship, so I came up with this backstory where the engines were salvaged from the drifting hulk of an old colony ship after the factory that produced the engines originally intended for this class of vessel was destroyed by enemy action.

You built a million mass ship?

I am currently working on my Project "USG Ishimura". I know that one of the best starmade architects "Starlord" already did rebuilt a planet-cracker class close to the USG Ishimura, but in contrary to that he left out some few original or close to the concept art parts. Inspired by him and his really amazing work this project got me. Therefore I am pretty ambitious now to re-rebuild the USG Ishimura out of the worlds most famous scifi horror game "Dead Space". But it's a mess that in fact that's the first ship I have ever build (and currently am) in Starmade.

So.....well, I am a greenhorn. A Noob. Newb. Boon. Whatever you tend to call me. So this project is even more a pretty serious challenge.

Anyone interested into becoming a part of the USG Ishimura Team?

My impulse drive :D Note that due to using weapon effects instead of lights, the animation is NOT limited to the close neighbourhood of the ship, and since the pulses will "stay in place" when the ship moves, the engine leaves a pulse trail!
