Drone Wars Competition , Season 2

Well my launcher will be done tomorrow.
17 Pulse Brawler Drones: 102.6 mass each
3 Micro Carrier Drones: 200 mass each, Launches 10 AMS Drones before going into combat
30 AMS Drones: 4.9 mass each
Total Mass: 2491.2

Oh and learning from last season's launch fails and trying to maximize spread of the drones on launch. Basically it is a 2 stage launch for the brawlers and carriers, 3 stage for the AMS drones due to them launching from the carriers. Oh and it can all be done at the press of a single public button or wireless block. I'd recommend getting to a safe distance before launching them if anyone is in ships.

Keep in mind that's 17 drones that want to get at pointblank range to murder you and 3 drones that hang back and pepper you with rounds. XD The 30 AMS drones have 2 things they do, bullet magnets and Anti Missile work. Almost done with the infernal launcher. >_>

lol the main issue with the AI using ships at that range is they tend to derp out, a lot. Also done aside from the coloration I haven't figured out yet but they have the shape I want. Post them in a bit.

lol me I built my drones knowing how the AI likes to shoot. What's funny is how some of the docked parts act as shields or bait for weapons fire. Not totally planned either. XD

Well dang. Go incommunicado for a week, get 43 different alerts (Mostly from shipyards) and run low on drone-making time.

That's ok madman, I've been trying to rebuild the carrier that went poof when my build world died. Ive got the shell in, but still have to redo logic and launching stuff. So I feel the pain of a deadline LOL.

But I am still looking forward to the contest.

OH and Drakkart. I was thinking about something for season 3 (assuming there is one). Seeing that drones are (currently) more likely to fight a single large ship. Maybe for the next competition we could also have a test as to weather or not they can fight a ship 3 or 4 times the competition mass limit. Preferably something designed to take on drones. Not sure how scoring might work. Weather its how many drones survived after killing the ship or IF they can kill it or how long they last ect. But even if there was no scoring and it was just a "Field Test" it could be fun.

How to pick a winner if the target has a mass advantage?

well... It depends slightly on the ship design. I am basing the idea on how most drone swarms can take out targets 2-4 times their size.

If The Large ship is only 2x the drone team size. You could ether use a simple Pass/Fail system or a ranking system. What ever drone teams win, will be ranked by how fast they did it. While the losing teams will come under them, then be ranked by how long they held out or damage they did. I think simple pass/fail would work best. It could add a few "Bonus Points" to the team if they win to help bump them up if its a tight match. So maybe any team that wins, gains an extra 2 or 3 points.

The only reason I suggest this, is because (at least as far as I am aware) most drones will be fighting against a single ship and not other drones. I am sure there are tactics that work better vs drones then vs battleships. So the idea was to add another metric to help measure real world performance so to speak.

But its just me throwing out my random ideas I had while tinkering with things.
