Greetings Citizens!

After much deliberation and many long nights reviewing fleet submissions we can at long last reveal the winners of our first community fleet competition! Following fairly strict criteria as well as input from multiple members of the dev team, we were able to choose 77 player-made fleets out of 180 total submissions which will become future default AI fleets. The winners are listed alphabetically in the spoiler tag below along with their winning fleet:

Implementing the new fleets will take some time, as the features for random AI factions will have to be created, and the fleets themselves will need to be worked with to make them ready for in-game use. It's no small task to work with so many craft of different styles, so we ask that you please be patient as we try to work through them as quickly as possible. In the coming weeks we will likely be holding our community vote, so players can choose which of the winners will be allowed to continue building larger creations for StarMade in the future.

We'd like to thank all those who participated in the contest, we had a lot of fun checking out the builds and look forward to seeing them in-game. A vast majority of the fleets we reviewed were great builds. Because these fleets could represent StarMade as a whole in the future the conditions for acceptance were fairly strict. We hope that you'll all consider participating in future contests and want to thank you for all your submissions and support!

I see the 2 fleets I worked on in there; my own fleet submission and the fleet submission 2 of Raiben's I helped him work on and make the weapons systems.

It feels a little odd though that all 5 of Skylord's fleets made it in. I'd have thought at least 1 or 2 were edited out due to similarities between them? Nothing harsh in feelings, just a personal opinion... Then again, SkyCorp is a ship manufacturer so it wouldnt be impossible 2 different fleets have similar features. Anyway, Congrats to those who did make it in, and condolences for those that didnt, especially to ones that had very good weapons systems built into them, etc.

Pretty sure that "SkyCorp" is in no way official lore, and that the submissions don't have any real lore attached to them.

If it is as easy as removing text on a display, then it's not going to get disqualified for it.

No, its just in the same way my ships all use KDI in the name or as a hull-tag normally to denote them all being built by the same person/entity - think of it like a Ford Focus and a Ford Fiesta or something like that. Then again, I never make much sense sometimes nor do I wish to accidentally incite drama here...

(Doesnt mean its official lore, its just "this ship exists, this is who made it" sort of thing.)

*Reads through the list.* Altra got some in, oh look at this skylord got five, Five? Well, he does make good ships. *Finds own fleet near the bottom. * Wait what, What WHAT? I actually got my fleet in? How is this possible? Awesome.

Seriously, I was surprised to the point that I started yelling at my computer. When the hype wore off, I noticed that my favorite fleet, Tshara's second fleet also got in. Not to mention a lot of other awesome fleets.

When do you plan to implement these? It looks like you have a good sample of ship designs, each with unique themes.

If they looked that close maybe, but they seem to have done quite fast yes/no style calls given the volume.

It's not even "looking close," it's looking at all. Entire broadsides of some of the ships or entire interior ceilings are messed up.

What do you call flaws ?!!! Systems blocks showing ? I use them on purpose for decorative and lighting. Open your mind please.

also quite a lot of pics are outdated because I updated all ships,and quite a lot of tthose "flaws" are not there anymore

I'm afraid to tell you that most of that looks like build mistakes and not decorations.

Congratulations to an impressive 77 fleet entries for making it in! That is going to be a lot of variety added to the future neighbourhood.

Clearly going to have to up the quality of my own builds. Next Competition, maybe. :D

Gents, perhaps this line of conversation best taken to PM. Maybe we should focus on the positive about 77 entries that won it, not look for flaws. The staff may tweak anything they think I erroneous but more importantly, this is a place where we should be congratulating winners.

Ok, this has gotten waaaaaaaay off topic. Only eight posts in, and suddenly there is an entire page dedicated to this arguement.

If you will let me change the subject, will there be more competitions like this in the near future? I think that the procedural factions will need to have the stations to match the ships.

Most of the ships in skylords fleets look good, if one or 2 of the 5 are crap (no offense :P ) they shouldnt disqualify all of it. Because most of the ships he makes are usually good.
Also he makes loads of them.
25 ships. Woah.
