Hello. I just bought the game this morning on Steam. I'm having a tough time getting around it. It's kinda complicated.

Anyways, I built my first ship but I noticed that getting near planets was a framerate killer. So naturally I went into the forums and I saw a post that talked about 64 bit java doing the trick for 64 bit OS, and then switching the max memory in the launcher to whatever else over 1024.

I installed the 64 bit java and attempted to switch the max memory from 1024 to 4096. The intial memory to 1024 and the early generation to 512. And here's where my problems start. The game WON'T launch if the memory is set to anything over 1024. It gives me the following error:

    Java Virtual Machine Launcher
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has ocurred. Program will exit.

IF the game is set to 1024 memory, it'll launch without problem.

    My laptop's specs are these:

    Windows 8 64 bit.
    Processor: AMD A8-5545m APU
    Ram: 8gbs
    Graphics card: AMD Radeon 8510G

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind this thread, I fixed it!

I maybe wrong but it sounds like the launcher is still trying to use a 32 bit JVM. Do you have a 32 bit version still installed? You could uninstalled all 32 bit versions or maybe make sure only the 64 bit JVM is in the windows PATH.

He edited in that he already fixed it. =)

Guess it was a 32bit jvm too. =)
