I am trying to run a local server to play Starmade with my brother. We have three PCs so we are able to run a server and clients on different PCs as well as the same. We have run a dedicated server and tried connecting directly to the IP address:4242 and we have tried using Hamachi with a similar method (the Hamachi IP address instead). The server only functions when the client and server are run on the same machine. So a PC can connect to itself, but in every other situation we receive a "Sockettimeout error" and no connection.

    Any help?

Did you try using port 25565? The server tutorial recommended this as a second option.

1st: Config PC starmade server is running on to be DMZ in your router config (ez mode port-forwarding). make sure you're using the local network IP(NOT WAN IP) to connect to the server. Local IP is usually listed in router config pages as "local network devices" or "DHCP clients" with IP addresses like 192.168.x.y

2nd: make sure firewall/antivirus isn't screwing with it. Totally disable them on all pc and slowly re-enable till you see a problem start to show up. then fix the problem.

3rd: now that it's working mostly, you can probably turn off DMZ and start to do port-forwarding to get it just-right but also safe.
