Good job, Humble Bundle, selling a free game.

Can someone in Schine go shout at them for me? They need to at the very least be giving out keys to register your purchase on the SM registry.

Howdy. I have nothing to do with the Humble Bundle or how it's attempting to connect to the Starmade registry, but I will tell you what I know.

On Steam there are two versions of Starmade. There is the 'free demo' and the 'full game'. Both of them are exactly the same, are kept completely up to date, and contain the exact same content. It's that way because as of now the game is free, but in the future it will require a purchase. The only way to keep it that way was to create a free demo on Steam (even though it's identical to the actual game). You can purchase the game now which means you'll always own it on every platform and every release (unless you lose your account somehow), but all you get until it becomes paid is that strange fuzzy feeling that you donated.

Whether the game acts as if it's purchased or not is connected to your Registry account, which is what you use to log in to these forums. As far as I'm aware the only way to upgrade your account is through either buying the game via this site (http://star-made.org/buy or the giant orange 'BUY' button on the top of the page) or via Steam key from purchasing it from steam. Once your registry account is upgraded with the Steam key, you don't need Steam to play Starmade, you just need to remember your registry account info.
From what I hear, Humble Bundle should be sending everyone who bought the game a key. If they aren't you should message them about that.

Not sure what happened there. It is impossible to create keys for a demo. Do you have your receipt from steam? what does it say?

There is nothing in the Humble Bundle DRM-Free installer to get the full game account, it's only the free demo.
The weekly humble bundle is mostly meant for charity, getting the games is not the main intend there.

Here is the deal they offer:
Get a total of 89$ worth in games on a "pay what you want" base.

As you see, both charity parties get more than the individual games:

Pay what you want does not mean:
Pay literally nothing, but get all games.

Once the individual games go below 1$,
you only get a one time download,
for most games this is the demo-version,
in our case, its still the full game, as we do not have a special demo version right now.
However, you do not get a steam-key to get the full game on steam this way,
and thus cannot upgrade your registry account.

Our launcher is independent from steam, and you can upgrade your account, download and play the game, without even having a steam account.
Thus we are DRM free by any means, even further:
Once the launcher has finished creating the installation, you do not need any of our services at all to play the game or create a server.
If you are okay with keeping the version you can disable uplink and cut off the game from the internet and play with several thousand copies of the launcher made installation in your local network.
So in what way is this some type of DRM, if you can play and use the game infinite without any limitations forever?

    Schine is aware of that.
And their (humblebundle) terms cover a minimum threshold that has to go to the game developers (that offer their work for charity and for no return in most cases).
So, if you meet that requirement you actually get a key to redeem on steam to get the full version (not the demo) and thus are able to upgrade your registry account.
