Building masochist
Actually, if hull/armor/deco blocks affected ship performance (hp system) and we had a proper turning system (inertia based) two ships of equal mass would have the same potential for performance. I feel like a mistake some people do is to judge a ship's power by it's dimentions. Mass is a much more accurate measurement. Already, a 50k mass good looking ship will more or less equal a brick, the only disadvantages being the useless armor and worse turning. The thing with bricks is that they usually appear to be the same size as an other ship but they're a couple times the mass, due to how dense they are (and 100000 times easier/faster to make).I have dogs but I also like cats. I had a cat when I was much younger. MY neighbors did not like cats, and so they put out catnip mixed with snail poison. Needless to say, the HOA for our neighborhood was not very amused. Nor were my parents, or myself, but that's a different story.
I feel that in a perfect world, you should be able to have an effective combat ship while also looking good. Unfortunately, you can sacrifice either one to max out the other. No matter what we do, there are always going to be power gamers. The best thing we can do is advocate for a balance of ship effectiveness and aesthetic. I know that I didn't really answer the question but it's a dilemma that has no clear-cut solution.
Sorry for getting off topic there. ON TOPIC; What do you think of the starmade community? How would you compare it to communities of other more main-stream games, such as COD or minecraft?
The questions are pretty personal, don't answer them if you don't want to.
