      My core
I read you. My core is hollow too. Remember; the power streams are non-physical and will emanate from the center of the reactor. ...even if the "center" is just a hollow space.

Also, this thin ring around my planet isn't just decoration. It's a rotating low orbit dock base. Its original purpose was to allow ships/satellites, to dock to it and slowly orbit the planet around the equator, while gaining shield protection. It works great for that but I but I'm also going to use it as a test bed for decorative "weather patterns" and "traffic" intended for the finished product. Imagine being on the planet's surface and looking up to see clouds, lightning and distant "flying cars" flowing across the sky...

Let's pull out all the stops on this one and give Schine a run for their money. (y)

That would be awesome, yeah... thats way passed a proof of concept too.
And doesnt publicly allowing things to dock to a docked object open up your station/ship to being hijacked? At least, thats how i understood that exploit. Or did that get fixed?

By jumping through the hierarchy? In many cases, yes; it can be an issue. However, that can be compensated for with proper faction permission settings. I recommend placing faction blocks on the station (planet), your docked plates, turret components, and any "special effects" you have installed and set all their faction permission levels to owner/personal. Faction everything. Public permission blocks should only be used on docking, respawns, medical supplies and public industrial equipment. That should prevent any hijacking.

Edit: hide your main storage behind closed doors so people can't just C-V a public factory to it and rob you blind.

Is it even possible to make a dodecahedron using the current rail rotators. Wouldnt the plates need to be 72 degrees away from each other (360/5)?

      Only if turret axis count.

Edit: With slabs and whatnot, you might be able to get away with jankier 45' plates, but I haven't tried that myself, so... *shrug*

A Cuboctahedron would work. You could even make the square sides into octogons and the triangles would still be at 45 degree angles. This is also fewer plates to manage than the shape earlier in the thread.
