    Hi,

i just bought Starmade and got a own dedicated Server running. I have created a fleet of mining ships and no matter what orders i gave them, they are not moving one pixel. I flew about 7 sectors away with my flagship suddenly the mining ships spawned behind me orientation and formation still the same as of spawning them. I decided to just create a new fleet (just cores) and like the other fleet they won't do anything. No matter what order i give, they just stay fixed at their spwaning points.

Can anyone point me out what i am doing wrong? Maybe i need to configure the server? I searched the config but did not find anything. Or do the ships need any special module? I dont get it.

I don't know why you are having the problems you are. I have almost never had problems with fleet mining. I have even picked up abandoned ships at spawn on a MP server and added then to my mining fleet.

    In my experience..

    1. A storage module needs to be connected to the salvage computer.

    2. The salvage array cannot be operated by logic.

    3. The flagship will NEVER mine.

    4. There has to be asteroids in the sector where the flagship is before you can mine.

    5. The flagship cannot be docked to a station.

..end of! I have millions of capsules of materials gathered with fleet mining!

Duh, i've seen a lot of videos were the fleet ships behave in a formation, flying next to the flagship. But my ships won't move no matter what i am doing. If you got time to you may take a look at my server maybe i am just stupid but i think i am doing it like it supposed to. My server: www.ncoded.de:4242 feel free to join.

    Please make sure the ships
    • are undocked
    • have thrusters
    • have power to operate the thrusters
    • are inside the fleet
(so far for the move order.)

    • have a salvage computer in their weapons menu
    • have salvage modules connected to the computer
    • the salvage computer needs to be connected to a storage (for the items to store)
    • the ship must not be the flagship
    • the current sector needs to have at least one asteroid
(those are additional requirements for the fleet mining.)

I know I have mentioned this before in recent threads about fleet mining but if you want to take a look at my Hyena Class Day One Scavenger as there is a mining drone version in the download pack and a carrier to go with them. It is a basic system all set up and should be easy enough to scale up or down as you wish.

    Have fun!

Joined and we got it fixed.

Something messed up the config, and after resetting it, the fleets started to move.
(they just bumped into the stations and took a while to get unstuck, but they worked.)

t's me again. I got my carrier ready to test and wanted to start mining with the drones now, but all i got is the server log spammed with this, when i order to mine the sector:

Just restarted the server several times, now they start moving, but also they keep beeing far away from mining. Take a look yourself:

Looks like I cant access the video.

Anyway, looks like the ship being ordered is somehow unloaded.
Or the asteroid it targets is not loaded for whatever reason.

Make sure the asteroid you want them to mine is in the same sector.
And all ships are in the loaded area.

So i got them to mine after some server restarts but they behave very bad and also stop if the targeted asteroid is depleted, regardless if there are other asteroids in range. Also the recall command is not working properly as they always will come in at the same time, bumping each other to never reach the pickup point. I think the fleet AI is heavily bad coded as they just dont take respect to each other. I think they should keep more distance to each other. At minimum the largest radius that can be calculated for each ship. Also the collision detection should get coded by some who knows what he is doing. Maybe the devs could need some help?

The AI that is in use, was not made for this kind of use.
It were just single ships moving around when their algo was made.

It needs some love and work, agreed.
They also keep some distance to each other and should at least approach the pickup point one after another, without too much bumping into each other. (However, depending on shape its not always working perfect, and you have to make sure the pickup point is close to the border of the ship boundary, to allow easier approaching of it.)

Also the mining stops after one asteroid, that is a bug and will be addressed.

Oh boy, I wish someone would have told me before deleting server.cfg from the StarMade root install folder would fix this...
Deleted the file and now my mining fleet from before the Asteroid update works as expected again. Watch those little nippers go. :D

Just try it StormWing0, the file gets rebuild when you startup StarMade next time. For me this fixed it in single player, I suppose if you run a mp server with added commands, or settings, you'll have to add those again after the file is rebuild.
