I live in Florida, so hosting in Florida would be amazing :p
Also, I can't wait to see how your method of balancing works out... It looks good enough on paper. And as for the reinforcements, the idea is that you would 'charge' the station with FPs. You would lose them and they would remain in...
Over a year ago... You mean, with only AMCs and no multi-group penalty? This is a very different game now weapons-wise... Data that old isn't exactly reliable.
Back when rail dockers were first being texted and removal didn't work properly, removing a rail docker and replacing it with something else would put that thing on the hotbar, with potentially amusing results... Yhole on the hotbar anyone?
I'm liking the concept here, particularly the reinforcements... I was considering suggesting a similar feature as a way to automatically defend space stations and make up for their disadvantages in combat against ships. Basically, for a certain amount of FPs per mass (Maybe 1 FP per 100 mass) a...
OHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGODYESSSSSSS!!!!!!! :D
*Ahem*
Anyway, this keeps getting better and better. First I hear that the HP system is being worked on, then I hear that the center of mass is no longer the core... What's coming next, control chairs? Diminishing returns on weapons? "Warp drive"-type...
Fair enough, but if I bring my corvette to your mech fight I think you're screwed. It's bringing a knife-shaped gun (See my faction topic; the Kalen-Miris looks like a stabbing weapon and has things like pulse beams) to a fistfight. :p
A bit hard when, due to linear regen scaling and turrets, it can become nigh-impossible to actually do any meaninngful damage to the larger ship.
So? You can already do this. If it was such an advantage power-wise people would already be using tons of them... Or is it that nobody actually...
They do, but even if/when they are, they are still ranged weapons with an AoE on hit. A lot easier to use than having to try and grapple someone with pull beams and then hit them with a rather untrustworthy pulse weapon.
EDIT: Whoa, dupe post.
...Except for the fact that this is a game of infinite resources and there's no way to stop people from amassing so much stuff that it creates an entry barrier for newbies and cost of titans becomes irrelevant. Furthermore, all you need to protect as big a ship as you want is a dock. Literally...
The thing is that a (say) 100k mass ship shouldn't be against the rules. It should be possible, maybe even viable, but it should have weaknesses just like any other type of ship. As I say every damn time this kind of thing comes up, a "big ship" shouldn't be the be-all-end-all of starships in...
I'd call it more of a Lieutenant General hardware problem, or maybe full General... :p
...Jokes aside, I've been on the recieving end of this issue. When Joelbrisco on pre-reset Elwyn Eternity warped into my sector (Or I warped into his) I'd instantly freeze out and have to relog. This could...
While this topic's OP is nothing but useless flame war bait, I think the title still represents a valid point...
"Make your own game."

I dunno if I got the context wrong, but the way it sounds is just... wow.
I find it amusing that "raise your dongers" is a meme in League of Legends, rather than games like these where you really can hit a button and raise your donger.
The trick with this is that unlike MMO quests which are basically required for progression, SM missions would ideally be just be another thing to do in the game, probably about as profitable as manufacturing or killing pirates.
Not sure about "high priority" (There are many more important issues to deal with) but I agree that it really needs to be dealt with sooner than later... Later this year, maybe?
