Having turrets automatically added to your ship when its built in a shipyard would be nice to have in the upcoming shipyard update. Or when you lose a turret or it gets damaged, the shipyard repairs it when you bring the ship in for repairs as well.
If you can't get valuable loot like that from a pirate battle then there's no reason to even go out and hunt them. The valuable loot dropped by pirates when you kill them gives you an incentive to go and battle them. Most destroyed pirate ships now under the HP system have little to no valuable...
While it sounds like a good idea OP, making it so that there is virtually no way to detect unused ships except by visual confirmation is a VERY bad idea. If people ever lose their ships while they're in an "inactive" state, they will have pretty much 0% chance to find them again. So i'd say they...
Indeed. Thanks for mentioning this to me m80.
I tested single-axis turrets, OP, and can say that they're not a good idea unless your ship is engaging targets at very long ranges. Within 4 km of your ship, it's very difficult to hit anything unless your ship is angled just right for the target...
the whole issue of needing turrets to defend your ship against invading astronauts can be 100% avoided by just equipping logic-run damage pulse generators, which imo is a good thing because i dont like being boarded.
DivineEvil, calm down. What I'm trying to tell you is that combat is the deciding factor of how viable a power system is in comparison to others. That's not an assumption, that's not a personal opinion, and it's not one-siding the issue. It's a fact, and something I know myself from personal...
DivineEvil, i'll admit, your argument is way too complicated for me to 100% understand. Maybe my opinion is too simple, but to me that's because the issue at hand is rather simple, and just because our arguments/opinions are simple doesn't mean they don't matter.
Combat is the #1 situation in...
All I know is that I want fuel to have no part of the default StarMade game. If you want fuel as an add-on mod I have no problem with that, but I like the system for power as it is, and don't want anything to upset it. Adding fuel - at least the way you're proposing it, DivineEvil - appears to...
Anyone else getting really tired of the HOURS of time it takes to set up storage filters for your faction's storage rooms on your faction's homebases? To set up storage filters for every block you need to have auto-sorted, you have to search for it in the list, then click it, then repeat the...
You can also make it even more difficult for AI to touch you by just making a dumbell-shaped ship and then removing the intermediary bar, so you just have two spheres/discs/whatever shapes spaced very far apart from each other, comprising the ship.
That doesn't work unless your ship has a large core room for space for rail turrets.
My biggest problem with the torch is that it means a brand new player who joins a server can easily steal any un-homebase-docked ship, be it a titan or a small frigate, with relative ease.
Well it's wrong...
That's exactly what the problem is. Since the only way to guarantee ship protection is to have it docked to a homebase, people who join servers now will need to have their own faction out of necessity, just to protect their ships from getting stolen. That's just wrong.
Time doesn't matter if...
I can imagine now all the problems we'll see happen with people abusing this new torch/boarding feature to steal other people's ships with such ease when they're not online.
Now having it factioned is meaningless, as people can always circumvent faction control by using the torch.
This, so much. People say "oh, i want fuel, and we can have it work by doing this and that" but every proposed method for using fuel almost always requires introducing drastic new engine/gameplay mechanics/features in order for just the fuel to work.
The biggest problem of fuel though is that...
I knew there was a reason why cops liked donuts... now I know why. Clearly all cops play StarMade and know that donut ships are well protected from weapons fire from AI, so naturally they eat donuts in hopes of becoming donuts themselves so that when they're shot at by the unlawful, they will be ok.
