      100 cannon + 100 pulse can penetrate through 3 layers of advanced armor, 9 layers of standard armor and 21 system blocks (with 25 HP). It's only 16 system blocks with passive piercing effect, but that can be negated by using 66 cannon + 66 pulse + 66 piercing instead.

      It should be added that ships do rotate around their center of mass per default. Rotating around the core is a non-vanilla server setting.

      Me too! Try Scrap Mechanic, there you can do rotations in steps of 1°, not as fast as in your animation, though, so building a bipedal mech that doesn't tumble over is tricky.

      A sensor with all activators off triggers at >=0, which means always. If you want to know whether a storage with space for 1 million blocks is empty, you need 1 activator on and 999 999 activators off, and then add a NOT gate. But it's not greater than 0, it's greater or equal than 0.

      The cores in my test ship were pretty close, but I guess at distances > 1.6 km the turret has to lead moving AI ships by more than 30°. The ship could hit the target, but doesn't shoot because it doesn't see it. I'm afraid I have to scrap that idea, but thank you for the reply.

      I thought it would be a good idea to dock ships to basic rails on turrets, so they can be useful instead of idling in a hangar. The turret does the aiming and the ship just shoots parallel to the turret. This works at close ranges, but at greater distances the ship's rate of fire gets lower than...

      Even if ships could be controlled from the homebase, stopping the overheating would still require the player being physically present. Warheads might be a problem, it's good you brought this up. The AI needs a "shoot warheads, even if neutral" option anyways, so this should be implemented...

      Risk of death? What do you lose on death (aside from FP)? Whatever a player can drop when dying, they can simply leave it in the homebase. The only thing a player death does, is taking them out of combat, making them spend valuable lifetime to get back, so they can go on with actually playing...

      What I mean is the HP per surface area. If you increase the surface area that is covered by a single block, then you also decrease the HP per square meter. The same damage makes bigger holes. Losing 10 blocks in a wedge slope leaves a hole as big as 14 blocks in a straight surface, for example...

      But you also get less effective block HP per surface area. An octahedron made of advanced armor only has 577 EHP/m², while a cube has 1000 EHP/m².

      I don't think standard armor is worth it. It has only 25% of the effective HP of advanced armor, but 60% of its mass.
