Wait I don't get what you are discussing...
If you are arguing about fights at 3km+ it's missiles, that is your only real option.
DPS v ALPHA only matters in fighting that has already closed to spitting distance. That's the only distance where direct fire works at.
hell i would advocate that...
its not like you will miss your opponent with your waffleboard cannon when his ship is half a sector in size...
The alternative is to just have like 100 separate turrets for a hilarious broadside effect using n^3 module beam/pulse turret cubes bolted into the hull
But I'm not going to argue...
most of my ships have a silicon heart made out of weapon computers ;)
logic controlled firing is so easy to set up, and is necessary for waffle boards in any case
no, my poor computers weak heart would give out.
but i was leaning more along the lines of "ships of equal size" kind of statement...
Or you can build your pulse death ray in a giant waffleboard formation and chew through a 100x100x100 section oh hull in a single shot
Course this assumes you are using a massive 600x250x150 behemoths as your boat.
But what you are discussing is bordering on obsurdity because of the size of...
If you want a gamey munchkin Titan that has the manuverability of a fighter while bein 700m long and nearly as wide it is possible.
Your controll ship should be just a core and thrusters, then you just dock guns and armour aroun it and controll those using internship witless logic.
Because...
my one only has 100k shields... and 20k Regen :D
i just cant find any asteroids to make shield capacitors out of but i have literally millions of the stuff for shield charger
as far as I can tell there is no difference between a 5x5x5 bock of weapon modules when compared to a 125 deep line. new system seems to only take amount of modules connected into account.
a shield capacitor + charger is 2 blocks giving 110 shield HP
an ADV armor block has 250HP 75% damage reduction and 100 armor HP for a total of 650hp x2 is 1300
so its 1300 hp vs 110 hp when you are having a fight between shields and armor
this is the point the dude with armor says GG and...
what i mean to say is that when i fire my cannon at over 2k range it makes Swiss cheese out of a pirate isanth easily
when i fire the same size laser at over half the range i rarely do more then damage the armor a bit
if i want to score "decent" hits i need to be within 500m
max range of 1:1...
Ive been testing some things out and so far i have found that for long range shooting beam weapons are horrible.
even at just 1000 range a beam+beam gun rarely hits a moving target successfully while canon+beam guns can hit moving isanth at over 2k with decent reliability.
is it just that i...
also worth noting:
BOLT ON ARMOR
because why pay for the whole 100k cube internal volume of your ship when you can just pay for the external 10k armor cubes that actually need armor/shield buffs
WIP super battleship with 100m of bolt on armor currently complete
to max out armor passive to +25% (the max) you need 1/180th of the ships total block count...
for a grand total of 1/90th of the ships mass (1.1%)
assuming a ship is ellipsoid in shape, 100/40/40 dimensions it will have a internal volume of 83775 cubes, to layer that with 2 layers of armor...
this is my standard 75:75:75 fighter cannon...
1st hole is punch through 1500 damage shot (went through 3 layers of armor)
2nd hole is standard 750 damage shot (1+1/2 layers of armor)
3rd hole is overdrive (straight through 5 layers of armor (goes through 7.5 max))
4th hole is pulsed (through 5...
in any case punch through module is now defunct, why is it still in game?
and in regards to "boosted effect" there is literally no difference between guns equipped with punch through vs those without
all weapons already have 100% punch through
so far i have been testing things out and have found that the punch through module has no real effect on guns
i think it was a change to damage model or something but all guns already punch through without the module being added on
tested vs 5 layer armor blocks using cannons/lasers
you probably exceeded the max logic block count or something
or you have flip flops trying to activate flip flops that have already been activated once that tick (most likely non-game issue cause)
