I know he meant docking rail dockers to rail dockers :p, but my point still stands...
As far as the game is concerned at the moment, the one with the rail is the host and the one with the rail docker is the 'docked'... if they are both the same then how will the game know? Will it derp out and...
This, although an issue I see with it being that how does the game know which ship is 'docked' and which is the 'host'? Especially when the ship is reloaded... whereas having different blocks provides that distinction. Im sure there are ways around it, im just not sure of them.
Also, can the...
I was trying to test out a point defense turret last night by linking up an auto missile systems with logic. When I used a large swarmer array all was well, but I wanted to fire individual missiles at a time. So I linked up a single missile computer with 1 barrel to a clock, but once it gave the...
Have the door/light whatever you want multiple inputs be slaved to an activation module (per door block) then you can link everything else to the activation module. Does that make sense?
you can undock from rails now :). Connect an activator to a rail and it will undock the entity on it. I discovered that by accident, which was interesting. Unfortunately the docked items dont appear to retain their momentum yet though :/.
On an unrelated note, i've been following this thread...
I would say most things are not built around a system but a set of requirements.
Those requirements can be anything from a powerful propulsion plant, mini hotel rooms to aesthetics. Everything else is then second (or third etc) to that. So yes, something could logically be built as a shell and...
Looks really sweet man! Seeing awesomes like these make me want to fob work off and starmade moar... shame my Potato* holds me back from working on my bigger projects :(
*(really crappy old laptop, dont judge, super poor :p)
In principal I agree, but in practice I think people would take the same size ship and fill it with more systems, bump up the thrust to negate some of the mass effects etc and end up with a ship that is visually smaller but 10X more survivable (read 10x more un-killable ;) ). But at the end of...
why not build both sides in one entity using the current mirror functions, with the core in a common mid ground. Then save it as a BP. When you spawn it in just delete the half you dont want with the advanced build functions. I'd imagine that'd be quicker. But dont forget to take off symmetry...
you can increase the size of the advanced build mode upper limits in the server cfg. Although be warned, doing 100X100X100 box operations can have adverse consequences
Here, take all of my yaaaaassss :)
I wouldnt say replace the need for doing away with shops however. As if you made the block you mentioned expensive, then you would still need to visit shops early on and also would provide a less risky to hijack method of getting supplies (take a trip to the...
Damn thats a shame, but it'll be good to see it when it comes along :D.
And haha mind reader! I had plans of a large scale auto allocating multi floor storage box / ship storage platform system that would allocate a space to an object based on what was available :). Soon it will be a reality!
