      The slippery slope is a logical fallacy, so shoo. :P When building on a planet, I once noted that there were few options to build with. I basically had rocks, logs, and ship/station components and that was it. I'm glad some thought is going into that area of the game.

      A similar effect can be achieved with a flight computer that automatically fires thrusters to get you going "forward" relative to your ship after you rotate it. If you have enough thrust, it'll just about do what you're asking for. I've wanted a toggleable flight computer like this for a while...

      Well, they ARE part of your main ship body in function, right? Since they don't turn, they don't present the balancing issues that turrets do so I don't see why not.

      Actually, I think docked ships get full protection and turrets gain portions of the mothership's shields and power.

EDIT: by this I mean a rough average size as asteroid size should be rather random. Planet ore density - Some people don't like planet mining, some do, and some servers can't...
