IDs are always numbers. If they are words+numbers, they are mapped to numbers (aka compiled) when-ever the game starts. Else it would be a performance sink.
I don't know why we use 3 bytes per block. 4 bytes are much more comfortable. Probably the forth bit is a secret :)
Or the reason is the...
@sunnycat10 I would like you to think about cargo boxes.
Ships with core at top to make it accessible + the ship centred, a nice hull and:
3x3y3z:
1 core at top
4 plex storages - one on each side, 1 reactor, 1 thruster below the core.
8+4+8 hull parts (edges)
5x5y5z:
1 core + 8 hull face...
Not if you throw away 5 rotation and 3 HP bits for 2x2x2 sub-blocks worth 3 hp bits (take damage = lose sub-blocks).
Now you can make any shape with 1 block ID - even thin 0.5m walls, 2-edge pentas, diagonal double-wedges...
You can edit blocks in build mode without needing to rotate them and...
Just a few questions:
Why did the shop not purchase hulls when their price is so much lower than the shop price and other offers?
You would block offers at 50 to 200% of the price entered in the block-config? Needs prices dependent on recipes and smartly choosen shard/ore prices.
Maybe the...
For armoured glass, I would like blocks which hide the rest of your ship behind. But they should only let you see through if you are on the same ship to avoid exploits.
For armoured light, I prefer another thread's solution to make it injectable (and recoverable - at least on stations/ships...
I think big shops (if big and small exist) should have mine-fields around them to block bigger ships, but paths for smaller ships and cargo shuttles.
Small shops should take revenge by changing your relation properties from friendly to fearsome (which would deny you the free passage through...
*joke bomb ahead XD*
I also want to have that 10m^3 macro assembly that can assemble me a house to live in, a car, and a Zeppelin-UFO :D
And don't forget the 50m high Pyramid which I want for getting remembered in 2000 years just for having used this assembly :p
And this house should be able to...
@FunnyBunny14 hold input for 2 cycles, not just 2 items.
If you want it easier to craft small things, go ahead and imagine bigger numbers (was just an example).
But I would like factories for 10 products also have 10+ blocks.
That would give you a reason to make larger ones. If you chain them...
Collision damage
Lag
No Auto-docking.
Would like the ability to dock a ship (you own) through the parent ship by activating a logic block while the ship you wanna dock is inside your docking box.
#1
Each assembler should only be able to hold ingredients for and products from 2 production cycles (2 instead of 1 to avoid glitches in consumption and start of next cycle).
Linked factory inputs only increase the amount of ingredients it can hold by 10
Linked factory enhancers increase the...
I like this concept @jayman38, but ships should get replaced when nobody is watching this sector.
If each shop can only hold 1 big ship or more smaller ones (dependent on it's own mass), it would be worth the trip to already explored territory.
It would create a need for your faction to have...
You shouldn't mine with build blocks!!! How dare you! :/
Just make them only remove-able if you try to remove just this one block type and with a safety delay after other build actions.
Less annoying confirm-boxes, sufficient most of the time...
I like the concept, but I think the formulas need adjustment.
Only pacifist ships should have 0% weapons. Civilians should have a few %.
I am not a fan of putting power into industrial either. Power should be vital - like thrusters.
Thrusters should count to defensive and be a multiplier...
1. One problem is that we don't have a splitter block jet.
A way to access multiple properties via logic, and at least 2 are required for a serial communication interface (1 clock, 1 data)
2. The second is that logic currently requires a huge amount of blocks - thus decreases the abilities of...
My favourite is: you fire your docking beam from a cockpit behind a dock at a much smaller ship or cargo container and it will dock there.
But I like the AI option too, cause it is more versatile.
I guess real space ships don't have turn-able thrusters because every turn cause an opposite turn on the mother ship.
Real space ships are built for reliability.
If computers shut down due to sun activity (they have huge problems above the south pole), tasks were too complex for humans to...
