There are technical aspects I was worried about there. A completely random blink allows the game to select an open space for the ship to blink to. The blink forward is a little less useful but would be awesome for avoiding missiles.

Allow a ship to jump inside a sector. This could be used as a blink mechanic.
Two ways I see it working would
1) a straight boost/blink forward.
2) A random location in the sector like a normal jump.

Rough look at the ships.
There are three ships. The far tekt ship is a fighter with beams and jump inhibitors. The center chazbaz asteroid is a science ship with hypersleep chambers, and the final ship is an AI salvager with some back story.

What particular part are you complaining about? The edges have always looked a slight bit wierd to me. I attributed it to lighting and normal maps. Do the edges shift when you move the camera?
Has anyone played factorio? The distinction on those factories was how many ingredients the factory could use to make the output. I would be fine with that as a determine factor. I rather appreciate the slight complexity in factories. I thought it was neat in earlier gameplay. As a veteran it...
