Is there a crash report you get? The crash report would tell you what class the error is happening in or why the JVM is crashing.

I downloaded and installed Star-Made and everything was running smoothly. Then I found out I should have sound. I turned up the volume, tested my speakers, and triple-checked that they were not muted, but I still couldn't get sound. Am I an idiot or is this a bug?
