To be fair, most of the people I've seen don't care whether their ships are featured or not.
They'd just like to see the opportunity for trailers and other official content to pop up, rather than being routed straight to MF - regardless of whether it's the MF players that're offering trailers...
Regardless, it's still building, combat, and exploration.
A kid's parents will see it and think "Minecraft in space", too.
No matter how we try to worm our way out of it, we still have the problem of people describing it like this.
There IS combat. Combat against NPCs. Combat against players, and combat between factions. The method doesn't really matter.
You have blocks to build with, things to kill, and places to explore. Bam. That's the criteria for "Minecraft in space" to most people.
It is a threat if it's intended as one, regardless of how it's interpreted. That's like trying to say "It's not a threat, it's a promise" or something after saying you'll punch someone in the face.
Do you or do you not intend to attack some vaguely defined entity that you feel threatened by?
Starmade is kinda difficult to describe if you're a veteran, but if you're new, then "Minecraft in Space" is the first thing that might come to mind.
We should definitely change the description to "Voxel based space sandbox" or something more intelligent sounding like that, though.
Edit...
I think that the transparency bug is something that's been in OpenGL based games since the 90s. :u
I'm sure there are fixes for it lying around, but it's a very, very old one.
The biggest problem I'm seeing here is that by shooting at TE assets while they were undefended and bragging about it, you've destroyed any chance that you may have had at having a good relationship with most of the other forum based factions, aside from CR.
