This is how I use to operate, until I noticed people were embedding huge amounts of shield and power in the turret base either below the ships hull or in a large pocket provided for the turret. So, I've tried it myself and it definitely gives you the edge.
Sorry Captain Skwidz for the off topic...
Oh yeah! This is great for reusing the design for your own purpose also. I just use my shipyard the break down the ships for the blocks. If you want the BPs for any of the NPC factions you can pull these from your own install and copy/paste them into your blueprints folder. To spawn them in...
Yeah, I've used a similar method since NPC ships came out. Hijacking NPC ships is rather easy and handy. They provide a lot of nice blocks. :)
This is also a part of my routine. (y)
That will work while you're on the server, but soon as you leave the NPC unloads. :(
I've tried many hijacking...
After having a play with the Dev build last night I love the build tools!
I couldn't work out the new rails, so didn't bother. Maybe try tonight.
When visiting the Traders home base I noticed that the Outcasts are still dropping their containers and turrets when making trade deliveries.

Perhaps just remove the existing pirates and move them to an NPC Pirate Faction or perhaps more than one NPC Pirate faction to cover a wider area of the galaxy or galaxies.

As for the spawn side, it definitely should be a safe zone and have a newer station. Even if it's...

A single docker with a menu control like BobbyAI makes more sense than numerous docker types.
I like this a lot. It make sense in that you would logically be able to have fully AI controlled ships completely. But limiting them to the existing skills set would provide incentive to employ crews to gain advanced capabilities. Kinda like how things are now with AI development in the real...
I've read many suggestions, complaints and ideas about this topic and others around attracting and retaining new players, both as an independent suggestion and as responses to suggestions.
My suggestion is based around my experience playing the old versions of the British game "Elite" and...
Lancake then continues with ...
I would suspect this would be how you could salvage the ship including docked entities.
Sadly, this sacrifices the ability to salvage the docked entity upon being sliced off the main entity.
I think Lancake's "... becomes non physical to weapons..." would do the trick. Then all hits would pass through the docked armor and hit the main entity below.
