At the time when I was working on them there was some issues between it being non-physical and it emitting light. I think since then it has been resolved. But yes force fields are planned for some time.
They will apply to ones we have read and wish to update the prefix regarding. For the old ones if they're still relevant and one of us reads it we may go ahead and update it as well.

nice revive gfire5103 but yeah, we've considered elevators and the like. the future rail system will allow for the building of more conventional elevators as Valiant70 puts it. the rail system implementation isn't currently planning on changing or using the plexlifter block in any way though.
if you're using logic to activate those systems you generally don't need a separate output, you just daisy off what activated it in the first place. Logic will also connect to the rail system once implemented.
