For physics and block-shape reasons, this would never work; the mech would end up falling diagonally forward. Sorry, but 'lololol gaint robot of DOOOOOOOOM' is a lot harder than it seems to be at first.
The primary annoying part is that the new update contains what probably should have been several seperate updates... The logic system, which is pretty much finished and would have made for a nice standalone update, the new planets, which still need work, the new decorative blocks (A.K.A. really...
I just don't see people actually going and doing this... And if someone does, you can either blow a few up with your pistol or spawn in a small turret and detonate some. Heck, you could just spawn in cores and hurl them at the mines.
Hm, good point. It would also make the 1st-person block placing slightly more useful (Convenience). If only there was some way to orient blocks placed by players...
Or just shoot the damn mines. Anchored =/= invincible.
Again, they aren't invincible. Any dropped turrets wouldn't be any more powerful than turrets presently would be if left near someone's base.
This would be really nice... This way, more servers would start using zero linear damping, and we wouldn't need to worry about autopilot and throttle control since we can just burn thrusters to accelerate and decelerate like normal people. (And no, I do not support more stupid boxdim enhancer...
...Why all of the hate on Star Trek aliens? If it was ONLY humanoids, that would be stupid, but what's so wrong with the occasional green dude walking around?
Personally, I'd rather see these stand-ins put in in time for the Steam release, allowing Schema more time to work on other things. (Specifically, survival features.) Remember, initial implementation doesn't take that long, but bugfixing tends to drag on for at least 5 times the amount of time...
Since http://starmadedock.net/threads/chairs-n-viewscreens-and-stuff.75/ may be hard to implement and won't come for a while if at all, how about a few simpler changes for the closer-at-hand future, in the spirit of that topic:
Make Cockpit Blocks a usable way to "enter" (control) a ship, so...
