I just had the idea of a weaponized warp gate.
A ship with a large warp gate on the front rams into enemy ships, forcing them through the portal. The exit portal is much smaller, resulting in insane carnage.
As the old thread was closed down due to the new "instant-lock" strategy the mods are using on necroed posts, I've decided to recontinue the thread here. (link to the old thread)
To start off discussion, I'll post my idea of what FTL should be like. I would like to see both ship-based FTL and...
You are aware that changes like this have already been added, right? Schema is already making certain blocks heavier or lighter. I believe the terrain blocks are now heavier (correct me if I'm wrong).
This wouldn't really make the game any more convoluted, as you suggest it would.
Just be careful if this gets fixed. People used to do it with power drain on the mothership, and it got fixed. It's only a matter of time before it happens with power supply from docks.
This is already planned, at least for directions. It'll mainly be for the 6 main directions (up, down, left, right, forward, back), but the possibility of putting points into turning has also been discussed among the devs.
Your dashes thing is broken, I think.
Collapsable slopes would be very cool, but they'd either take up a ton of block IDs (for all of the different angles) or actually be entities on top of an invisible block, which would cause a lot of lag in large amounts.
Well, someone used it to make an escape pod/torpedo launcher, so that's something. I know Tomino_sama has a firework launcher he built using logic, which also works as an automated swarm missile dispenser.
If schema has started fixing it, and the soft cap exists, clearly we weren't meant to use...
I feel that docked generators are cheaty. I mean, the old system was power drain on the mothership to take power from docked generators, and that was fixed.
On my ships that are large enough to the point that going over the soft cap become detrimental, I use massive power tank systems instead...
This has been discussed to death before, with people suggesting ludacris solutions like scientific notation for the numbers. I agree, we should really just get comma (or apostrophe) dividers.
Oh, yeah, it should definitely be added to the game itself. However, it could be helpful for the folders to exist for easy transferring of blueprints to where they need to go, without needing to boot up the game, join the server, and set them to usable by those NPC factions that way.
