The main salvage lag is from people devouring planets. Some sort of slow but infinite ore generation from planets so people don't salvage the things would really help with this.

Fair enough. I personally wouldn't want to build a titan or kilonaut in survival mode, but I have built some frigates for myself in survival with friends. I don't think "canon" was a typo. I'm pretty sure he meant it. Canon means to be an official part of the game/story.
