I never said it was impossible, at up to 10% of a ship mass I think it's impractical. Remember hat's 11 modules for every 100 systems,decoration/hull blocks. Add lets say Ion and you now need 24 modules for every 100 systems/decoration/hull blocks.
I really wish a dev would chime in here, is...
So I've been saying on a few threads the way effect modules used defensively should be changed. Currently they are all based on the mass of a ship but this seems to be a little counter intuitive. Defense systems should be based on what they affect and not the total size of your ship.
EMP...
I've tried to get word from @Calbiri if the intention is %blocks or %mass. %blocks makes the system nearly useless in my opinion but %mass may still be a little too strong. I might be happy with half of what the current numbers currently are but I would much prefer a more in depth system I...
No. "Just edit the block config" is never an acceptable answer to balance the game. We need a proper vanilla balance. One of the best aspects of Starmade is the social sharing of ships. If I make an awesome ship or download one it should work regardless of where I play it. Every ship you...
Yes trading capacity for resistance does make ion valid, having to have extra modules for turrets that are not covered by this benefit isn't. I think there is a disconnect between the devs and players as how many ships do the devs actually build? Balancing the game for ideal situations isn't a...
I know the numbers, but the most useful ones are the ones that cost the most... If the intention was to have a max number of systems on a ship a hard cap would do this just fine, or balance the power requirements so multiple systems become nearly impossible. Making it so you have to sacrifice...
I'm certainly not saying every ship should be able to have every module but 1/10 is much to high for this. That's a huge sacrifice in systems to achieve a single bonus. There are also other problems, the modules themselves add weight, so for every 10 modules you place, you have to add an extra...
So if anybody is wondering. In the current release of the game the system seems to use the percentage numbers provided in the graph but against the mass of a ship and not it's blocks. The means a 4000 mass ship would need 40 modules over 400. The latest dev build has this set differently...
An other downside of having such a high percentage is that the mass of the modules is counted, meaning this isn't simply 10%, but more like 11% of a ship has to be modules because for every ten you add you have to tack on an extra to make up for the extra mass.
Ultimately I think basing...
And you can easily have the same thing by adding a hard cap to the number of defenses you can have on a single ship. Or if the power requirements are done right you can have a jack of all trades but you would basically have to be a flying generator. Making it nearly impossible for the average...
Yes you trade ROF for damage but the trade is equal, the DPS of the weapon stays the same. With Sniper you get a longer range faster projectile for half the DPS, is that actually an equal trade? I'm not saying it should also get an equal damage bonus but it should get something. Perhaps an...
@Calbiri
Okay so according to this chart 100% pierce weapons are supposed to do 0 shield damage. I wasn't sure if that was a bug or not.
Also shouldn't a sniper also have a secondary bonus of damage. All other slaves balance DPS by either adjusting ROF for damage or adding projectiles. But...
So you may be asking yourself "Where has Sven been?"... well probably not. Truthfully I got really burned out on star-made with all the new system changes that had happened and all the ones still to come. So I took a break, a nice long one. I lurked on the forums but rarely ever logged in. I...
Totally unrelated but I thought Ragnarok only gave "stink eye" to battle boxes.
Back on topic sorta: With all these new system changes that have happened I curious how my two perma jam/cloak ships have fared...
I've seen other suggestions for cloaking for adding specific stealth hull. I support that idea more than just simply adjusting the power requirements. Also if you lowered the power cost simply for the ability to build pretty ships then that will just make cloaking doom cubes all the more deadly.
