      I'm not experienced at making quote boxes, so please work. When I said "encourage exploration" I was talking about everyone else thinking that. Why not allow jumps to any sector then planets are the only significant structures apart from shops? Otherwise, make beacons more useful than planets...

      Why do we need beacons? They "encourage exploration" but are really just an artificial barrier to balance the game. Beacons should, if implemented assist in FTL travel when people are using smaller ships and larger ones without a good enough setup. Those beacons would better described as gates...

      You just have to make long ship based FTL difficult without making a ship for it. People should be able to scatter, but have incentive to stay together. After a while (since my last post) I realized that this is an alpha game with end-user customization, we think up ideas, the devs/server owners...

      Simple solution, make it a field that ships have to pass through to warp, that field only lasts a short time which is extended via an upgrade. Then add a 30 sec cooldown to slow the oncoming storm. Good point, but maybe the math could follow a curve, I can't think of the implementation...

      That defeats the point, FTL is more of a fast-travel idea. I have to go 7 sectors to get to the nearest shop to my base, I'd rather take the 5 minutes of travel than sit in one place and do nothing. If you have a way to make the charge up not be tedious, please mention it.

      I have no problem with warp being an escape if people can chase you and you can't just go forever, giving opponents a chance to leave. If FTL drives can be bigger, it has to scale with the ship to make the decision relevant in a corvette and a titan, and specialized ships would be very good at...

      If you mean distance from spawn then NO, but it would be nice to be able to figure out the location of high danger sectors through quests/station logs. In system NPC warfare would be awesome too, imagine helping a side gain control of key planets in a system where you set up shop, only to crush...

      ONE thing that I'd like to see is the systems be incorporated in the interior instead of being put in a box of hull. (I'm looking at you Spirit of Fire) Even if you do though, it will be a great ship (can't wait to see keptick's ship learn the meaning of death by lag)

      I'd like something more random than going farther out, but before that we'd need a better navigation and maybe deep space radar system. If we just had "farther out" be more difficult than I'd have an incentive to stay in the safe zone where I can use a shuttle planetside without fear of death...
