Here's all my refit turrets so far. The three sets in the back are all point defense depending on my needs.
Next up is a rapid fire anti-fighter"Gatling" gun (civilain)... (I just pretend it rotates). Another small deck gun that uses small explosive rounds instead of rapid fire. Two missile...
I never said I had a problem. I don't care that not all my ships will be able to dock to every other ship in my catalog. I just have to make one accommodation when planning docking arms specifically. Also it's already been stated moving docks are receiver only, at least until magnetic logic...
I'm sure I will incorporate an extendable hidden docking armor in the future, it just won't be standard issue on most ships. Probably those designed for salvage and rescue.
Currently this would only work on the receiving ship (Master, the one being docked too) and no thank you. That complicates things way to much just so I can dock ship to ship, which is not even something this ships could ever do in the old system.
Not a bad nick name but for classification sake I'm sticking to FTR = BIRD. Jacemachine suggested Peregrine which is a type of falcon so I will be going with that.
I am certainly not going to design every ship in a way that allows it to dock to itself. While yes it's a nice feature but it means VERY specific placement of airlocks and design shape of the ship. Support ships will be required to have universal receivers as well as stations but the common...
Not if you use a speed controller to set their speed to zero. They work great until the ship us unloaded/reloaded, then they rotate during the loading process as logic loads slower I believe.
I have a few other ships that are infected but not as bad, I'll have to remember that. I'm still looking for a new name for the Turkey... I don't like turkey anymore.
Progress update! Work continues, now that rails are out ships are once again being brought up to date, albeit slowly.
I've refit my new gunship with the seamless rail features. This ship is quite wonderful now, and I am much happier with her new turrets over the ones I slapped together...
Rapid fire turrets I almost never bother with power. Maybe just a single power core so it can have a little trickling into it's own batteries. Artillery and Missiles I almost always try to make self sufficient. I try to deigns my ships with enough power to get the job done a little extra for...
If you have one extra block, add a recharger. Cores have 220 shields, twice that of a shield capacitator so adding a recharger to get those shields is the most gain for the least input. Is it a lot? No. but it's 220 shields on every turret that doesn't have to be taken directly from your ship.
Looking more designs of some of my ships I'll need a docking arm at least 25 meters long for stations to get past the engines on some of them but most of my ships should be able to adopt the docking collar idea. Of course on stations it's a simple task to make extendable docking arms to...
Yeah as long as the arrows are both facing in or both facing out I am on board. I don't see why it's technically necessary but it is the better option aesthetically speaking. Even jam a camera in between easily enough for the full package. I have not tried facing out yet so I don't know if...
Yeah these will be my standard for sure. It has way better field of fire than my first attempt without the need to countersink. I'm not as happy with how it looks compared to the old one but whatever. It's small enough to stick on just about any ship and that's what I want from my missile...
My final proposal for standardized docking ring. Rail docker on the right hand side (looking out from the ship), arrows facing each other (because it looks better IMHO), directly below the door.
Using this system I can seamlessly dock my Llama to my frigate or any other ship which has a large...
Trying to refit my ships I really need to create a 2 tall PD turret that doesn't have to be countersunk...
*3 tall
Well I think I've done it. Has a good FOF, 3 tall, doesn't have to be countersunk.
Of course now I have to go back and swap the core and rail docker because they are backwards :P
