Maybe my perceptions are a bit tilted from faction warfare, but I'd say anything below 150k blocks is small, and anything up to around 400k blocks is medium sized.

We're both wrong. It's 316k mass. I was thinking of the Apollyon's shield DPS with the 600k.

For combat: lolyes, provided you have the faction member count For example- FlyingDebris's Cherokee is a well built 600k mass ship. However, it could be taken down by something like 5 or 6 Thryn Apollyons (20k mass each) without losing a single one as long as they stay away from the main guns...

Why don't YOU alpha test fuel yourself? Give some massive buffs to power caps and limit power regen to stations. Host a server with those settings or convince someone else to host it. See how it works.

Hunger would be a good mechanic for keeping NPC crew alive, actually. It'd encourage people to control planets or stations outside their HB, if crops had some diminishing returns on them as the fields grew in size.
