      Well, labeling system would actually make it easier to use the structure tab for everything. Imagine being able to label docking ports, label weapons systems, doors. Adding group functionality would make things easier.

      Could be balanced by a) limiting the number of NPCs under the player/faction can control and/or b) making the AI unable to be a salvager drone and combat vessel, so if you park it in an asteroid belt and fly off, in about two days you know the drone would get blown up.

      Maybe it would be possible to use a standard docked ship. Assuming they get rid of the annoying half-block gap, you could make it look seamless. To balance it, a "virtual rotation" would be added. This would be a tracking of the aim of the "turret" to prevent it from aiming too far to the sides...
