No, I think you misunderstood. This is overpowered in a way that "balancing" cannot repair. It is inherently broken. You cannot give friendly ships a massive buff in their own territory, when they can already set up defenses and call on swarms of reinforcements with ease.

Reduce the jump drive range to 3 sectors, but cut charge time to a third of its current speed. Triple the effectiveness of jump drive inhibitors. This will allow for the creation of defensive "inhibitor walls" of stations without drastically changing travel speeds or inhibitor effectiveness.

I think the logic is more that people shouldn't be able to easily flee to any number of free, completely invincible, incredibly common safety zones. Fleeing should not be as easy as zipping over to the nearest shop and being protected by Trade Guild Magic.

I've had a similar idea in my head before. It's definitely something I'd like to see in the game. I'd imagine we'll see a system like this for crew to RC turrets as well.
