That's pretty much what a pulse system would do as a secondary system normally. It makes primary weapon cost more energy, have a longer reload, but be more powerful.
This is going to be a bit of a bump, but can I haz my Python pimped? It's one of my oldest ship designs (which is updated, so you won't have to place shield rechargers and stuff like that). And for my own tuning thread, I'm quite busy working on faction stuff currently, but maybe someday...
I'm mostly looking forward to AI overhaul. It would be really, really awesome to have auto-docking fighters and being able to command a fleet. Cargo stuff could be interesting too.
