      Chat/Channel Block

Have to agree. Having spent time as a signals operative for a while back in the 90s I can fully appreciate wanting authenticity in the signal dynamics, but at a certain point we're either going to have to approximate with acceptance of compromise, or accept a pretty large server & coding load...

      StarMade Active Development Timeline

Bench Any chance you could share some information regarding the current status of development of the "Mission System?" As in, does the team have a concrete plan for this already, has coding work already been done towards this or is it still in the research & development phase? I had some ideas...

What can be done to make AI-Turret's actually hit stuff?

This is a good question and I'm not sure if there's a concrete answer, but I'd love to know as well! I try to keep mine under 20 non-PD turrets because that just feels sensible, but I haven't actually stress-tested it. I'm guessing it varies from server to server and depends on other ships in...

I think range could happen so long as it wasn't by sector. Doing it by system should be viable... though not necessarily easy to implement. Would be nice though... Thing is, I think a channel block could fill the growing need for an ansible to remotely access entities.

Yeah, at this point we are entering the realm where remotely hacking ships via in-game devices (logic systems, displays, etc) could become a thing. I believe that falls within the realm of sci-fi fiction though... Galactica comes to mind, and more than one Star Trek episode. Now I'm imagining...

StarMade v0.199.253 - Fog of War and Display Block Upgrade

you certainly will not... the resulting recursive event paradox will prevent any future lawsuits and may distort the shape of the entire singularity o_O

StarMade v0.199.253 - Fog of War and Display Block Upgrade

Yeah - it's been suggested before and as NPCs come closer to fruition the need for it becomes more and more pressing. My suggestion shortly after the coming of NPCs was announced was a general (not specific to displays or logic only) ansible feature (block-facilitated or otherwise is probably...

      Advice on a station?

Beautiful design. Tip: The most common shortfall I see in stations is docking capacity. Builders install 5-10 docking points then invite you to "come see my station" and when you arrive there's no place to park because their faction's ship collection fills all the spaces. If it's meant to be a...

StarMade v0.199.253 - Fog of War and Display Block Upgrade

It has the effects others have mentioned, but very importantly from a multilayer perspective, it means you can build a mining station out on the rim and everyone else playing (enemies, trolls, etc) won't automatically be able to see it without actually scouting the area. It means that when you...

Creating effective and efficient mining systems

At this point I'd prefer to just send drones to unloaded sectors and have them mathematically harvest, since obviously having them actually harvest has turned out to be much more difficult than expected.

This is already implemented - thank god!

Fix NPC Shops = Fix The Economy

This suggestion is not about what variables *I* personally want to play under in a server; I play on 3 different servers right now and have played on over a dozen over the past two years. They're all slightly different and I like that. This suggestion is not about how many pretend credits one...

Fix NPC Shops = Fix The Economy

We can already do this with minerals and most players don't even realize it. Most shops still have raw minerals sitting in them at any given time. And let's say players do buy raw from shops and sell refined back to them for profit. This hurts our imaginary NPC shopkeeps, but doesn't hurt...

Fix NPC Shops = Fix The Economy

I claim to speak for no one. I'm stating a fact - no one is able to sustainably operate a shop trading anything except minerals without subsidizing it from other activities. The broken economy is problem for 100% of players because credits are inherently worthless to all of us, and the pile of...

Fix NPC Shops = Fix The Economy

This is not a problem I am having. This is a problem 100% of players in vanilla servers have, and it is a problem, not a designed outcome. If Schine didn't want functioning player economies they would not be continually releasing new trade features as they have been. There is no possible...

Fix NPC Shops = Fix The Economy

Tweaking server settings is not relevant to an issue that hurts gameplay on all MP servers. Is there some general usefulness to players of the current vanilla status of credits as worthless and public player shops as unsustainable that I'm overlooking here? Is that somehow helping the game be...

Fix NPC Shops = Fix The Economy

I love the recent market upgrades, fixes and improvements to shops & trade!! :D The entire trade system is massively improved. I've now got a busy MP trade hub operational (on Brieries) that fills multiple bulk market orders every day as well as providing profitable work and shipbuilding...

      Multiple Invincible Stations

I like it. My concern is steamrolling/blitzing, so each invulnerable station would probably need something like... a 24-hour responsored period once its support station infrastructure had been comlromised before shedding it's invulnerability. Also, only one station aegis could be in decay at a...

      Multiple Invincible Stations

Lecic's original idea is still the most interesting to me; any idea that demands players use more than just their 1 invulnerable base where they park their one gigantic ship and no one can ever attack them nor can they attack anyone else because all other players are also holed up in...
