If you do not want pvp players in your server you could instead of trying to chase them out of the game entirely just have a server with a set up that makes weapon do their glowing cool things but have 0 damage and then manage victories and defeats by voting or something like that.

I am worried: I do not want planets that lags the game to hell.
I would like single plate planets but with a really huge plate: it would not lag as much as those multiple sided planets and could be big.
Or we could have spherical single entity planets.
Both of those would be way better for me...

Now that it is not calculated before two minutes after taking damage you can take spaghetti like shapes that have right above 0 stability and it will fail only after the battle.

Make a spaghetti ship.
Then place all the power stuff 65 kilometers away from the core.

You do not need to circle: make a straight line going through your reactor and two blobs of equal mass at stabilizer distance so you have only one stabilizer group(and have most of the stabilizers at the 100% efficiency distance) but you would still lose significant amounts of efficiency and...
Someone told a trick about having the stabilizer group being centered inside of the reactor allowing to have no power beam.
(thus avoiding problems of killing yourself)

I wonder how weird looking would be a ship made of ugly purple tubes but that could be a way to obfuscate a ship with minimal mass.
Flying a fleet of planets is probably 8 times more server killing than flying a fleet of space ships which are planet sized and use no docks.
Because entity counts is a great factor in server breaking ability.
I kind of like having my ships randomly explode.
Which is why I use drone swarms.(sneeze at them and they explode)
I think my current drone is not so far from the shape I will use for the new power system so the transition will probably not be so hard.(turn a line into two disconnected blobs)
I think that making docked entities magically disappear when it overheats or undock by destruction of one of the docking blocks for reducing lag would more be a fix of docking than the stuff about shield.(possibly return the removed blocs into the storage of a ship that is higher in the docking...
The whole sections that are separated from the ship get X or Y inflicted to them suggestion would need an algorithm that would cost a whole lot of calculation power and which would grow more and more calculation hungry with the ship size(potentially at an extreme rate)
