      I've seen a few threads like this now, and I like the idea in general. Seeing as I like to build and fly a lot of fighters, I find that generating a lot of energy in a small ship can be challenging at times, so this could be a viable solution for many of my short range fighter designs...

      I think there should be dedicated ships for pirates and trade guild. Pirate ships should look more menacing and junky IMO, and tg ships should have freighters with sleek looking escort fighters.

      There is an option to filter out docked entities in the nav menu if seeing the cores on your ship's doors and elevators bothers you that much. I keep it toggled off myself, some ships have lots of them and they clutter up the nav screen.

      Needless to say taking a direct hit from ship weapons and surviving would be too much, but being able to soak some damage from anti personel turrets would be okay.

      Getting back to plasma weapons discussed in a previous post ( can't be bothered to find it on my phone right now) plasma weapons could apply a damage over time effect to exposed hull, like a plasma fire of sorts. Shouldn't hurt shields thought, that would be op.

      Agreed. Heat seeking tech is last generation even today, and generally indescriminate as to what targets they seek out. I find that unless you build a massive heat seeker array the damage isn't really spectacular. I'd prefer better targeting over massive damage anyway, seeing as a tend to slave...

      Like the idea, but I have to agree with Divine on this one. Instead of a block you could have all these settings put into the AI menu. You could have it so the AI patrols around a selected entity, say a ship or a station, within a set distance.

      As cool as it would be, especially as welding is what I do for a living, I think this would be better off as a gadget you can use as an astronaut. The astrotech beam pretty much does just that.
