If your intention is to make ion and pierce weapons useless and for armor to be used as a supplement to shields rather than as a viable standalone protection system, then that's your decision, but I can't say I agree with it.

The set up I have described is literally impossible to create without either shield bubbles or shield transfer up the docking chain not being 100%. It is not an armor problem. It is entirely a shield problem. Which you have, instead of fixing, made an official game mechanic.

Shields can regenerate more damage if armor has to be damaged first. It also makes piercing and ion weapons worthless, because an ion weapon cannot hit the shields through the armor, and the piercing weapon will be blocked by shields. There is a reason why every major faction in the past year...

Maybe this should make things clearer. This is a simple example that allows your ship to keep a large number of shields due to the generator's placement at the rear of the ship, while making it essentially invulnerable from the front until the giant block of armor is removed enough to...

Sure, as long as you think ion and pierce weapons both being rendered mostly useless is a good thing. Docked hull allows you to ablate hull instead of losing shields due to the 75% mothership shields protection, which has the side effect of making both ion and pierce weapons mostly worthless...

All local shields accomplish is allowing people to make docked hull without needing to actually dock the hull. They can just arrange their shield bubbles to accomplish the same thing. Instead of fixing docked hull you have codified it as an official mechanic. Congratulations.

Considering how clueless these two are about the game's systems, this isn't setting a very good standard for the rest of the team. Andy and Lancake know a decent amount but Lancake in particular will deny any problems with his balance stats until hit in the face with overwhelming evidence to...

No, I don't think you're doing research, and if you are, however you're conducting your research is flawed. I know I certainly haven't been contacted about problems in the meta, nor has Zyrr, nor has a myriad of other people who know what is wrong with it. If you are doing research, it's shitty...

This wouldn't be something like the "electrical" style damage Robocraft has, would it? I really hope I wouldn't have to "triforce" an entire battleship to minimize damage.

Thank you for displaying a complete lack of understanding of why docked hull is a problem.

Oh, let me guess, it's flak or proximity missiles? You could have fixed it with the power system, and made a better power system for ships in general in the process. Instead you're going to leave a half-assed power system and try to fix it through weapon rebalances alone.

When are you going to fix the problem of spaghetti ships? Or does Lancake still not think they're broken because the math works out when you look at things entirely from a numbers only config perspective?

A Solution To Flying Spaghetti Monsters

Possible? Maybe. Would it work in a practical sense? Unlikely. Both the spaghetti ship and the pulse ship likely fly at maximum server speed, so the pulsar could never catch the spaghetti. No, because missiles have trouble hitting the strands in the first place. You would need some sort of...

I do. Why should we allow a ship's weapons to be completely self sufficient just because they're docked instead of built in? Turrets should be treated as an extension of the main ship, not as a drone glued onto the side of it.

Oh, this is actually an ancient bug that seems to have resurfaced. I remember this used to be a problem way back in .13 and .14.

Instead of shields, may I suggest an alternative? Sponge tanking with basic hull or asteroid rocks is very cheap and can allow for craft that are much harder to kill. Shields are, in general, not worth it for disposable craft.

"I don't understand the entire point or aesthetic of a scavenger faction"; the post What are the chances of anyone actually recognizing some obscure part of one ship from one of the 3 main factions? Can you seriously look at the Scavenger lineup and tell me which specific parts were taken from...

The scavengers already repaint stuff they take from stolen ships. Also, it's not like they need to take parts from every fleet.
