      Log to syslog

So, I had to disable the logging. The logs were being duplicated to multiple places in the "/var/log/syslog" folder and it ate up every bit of hard drive space allocated to the OS, which was creating some rather interesting problems. I had to delete the "messages" and "syslog" files, which...

      Kupu's thread

kupu Hey, any way we can get those pre-mentioned bar textures restored? Been waiting a bit of time. I figure it slipped your mind. But we do use these bars for players on our server and we'd appreciate if the textures could be restored, since right now the "TEX" texture is kind of meh. lol

      Light vs Dark Server Redux

I totally forgot to update this thread. We have moved to the new server! We have seen a lot of improvements pre-update on combat, bounding box lag, and other issues since the main thread has more womp womp to it now! The admin team is very happy with the switch so far. :). Let's hope the...

      Light Vs Dark News

Yay! Thank you very much! This will make for good hilarity. :) By stitch together, I mean doing copy/paste of the various entities to put it all together into one entity. If you *could* just make it one entity from the start though, that would be the best option for us. When you've got the...

      Log to syslog

      Do you think I'll need to set these for syslog-ng too? $SystemLogRateLimitInterval 0 $SystemLogRateLimitBurst 0 $RepeatedMsgReduction on # Stop repeating the same messages $IMJournalStateFile imjournal.state $IMJournalRatelimitInterval 0 $IMUXSockRateLimitInterval 0 If so, would I just plop...

      Log to syslog

lol! Thank you for your response. I thought maybe syslog-ng took over the functions of rsyslog and/or worked alongside it, grabbing settings from it! haha. I did consider the possibility that perhaps they really were two distinct programs, which operate independently, and maybe you were...

      Log to syslog

Edit: The original post had an issue which has now been fixed. The following information is how to configure syslog-ng to perform output of all text from the console, not rsyslog. I will leave this for posterity and perhaps as an alternative to rsyslog. One thing that I noticed is that...

      Log to syslog

I'm on Ubuntu here. I'll post my install log for the benefit of others (plus because I ran into some issues): - To install syslog-ng, I followed the instructions here: Basic syslog-ng Installation (pretty straightforward apt-get, though users of Ubuntu 14 need to follow a slightly different...

      Log to syslog

I just now saw this! I was going to make a post for better log management, and this seems to fit the bill more expertly than I would have put it! You get full support from me on this idea. I will be trying it out too!

Overheated ships - Turn to derelict if not rebooted

Sure, I like the sound of that. But realistically speaking, how would they know?

      Light Vs Dark News

Boy oh boy does that sound fun! But as for parts, well.. I guess you could, however we'd need to stitch it together so if it's spawned, it doesn't turn into a lag bomb the moment it starts to fall apart, lol. Breaking news! We have moved to a new server box! Seeing as how StarMade seems to...

Overheated ships - Turn to derelict if not rebooted

Perhaps a little less drama in this thread is warranted, as it is simply a suggestion to have overheated entities go derelict. lol

      Light Vs Dark News

That would be awesome if you could! The dimensions are as follows: Length: 256m Height: 241m Width 185m The head is tilted backward at around a 30% angle. And here are some photos. Front: Screenshot Side: Screenshot Top: Screenshot Back: Screenshot If the size is a problem, it could...

      Light Vs Dark News

That is not Trump, that is "Orangehead." lol. But in any case, it's not meant as a serious political statement or anything, just a joke. There would be a Hillary head too if we could get our hands on one. lol

Overheated ships - Turn to derelict if not rebooted

This is a suggestion about overheated ships turning to derelict. An overhaul of the NPC spam when they war is a different issue altogether. But regarding the 1 day figure of cleaning up ships that have already overheated.. I would use that figure because this is cleanup of ships that have...

Is there a way to copy Pickup Area coordinates?

My experience was different. Though I tested a few months back. So long as the pickup point was on the parent entity, and not an attached entity to that, they would wait for each other, then one by one load onto the loading area.

      Kupu's thread

Hey kupu ! I hate to bother you. Great work on the new blocks and such, but we have the same problem as before again. Bar textures have turned to this horrible "TEX" texture. We use the bars quite a bit on our server as an alternative currency. Last time this happened, you said it was not...

Overheated ships - Turn to derelict if not rebooted

Why not just have better universe cleanup? Have the derelect ships disappear if they are not mined after a day or so. Right now, the "overheating ships" is a pretty terrible cleanup solution because it leaves all the turrets and docked entities behind. What I am suggesting is to make the...
