1: Buy with credits. It's the primary reason in my opinion that this game is so dead. Building new ships is now a vastly more tedious process with little fun involved for maybe an hour of combat on the upper end.
2: A large, vibrant community. There's a lot of old faces that made the game...
Shipbuilding is less of an issue yes, but I very fondly remember not having to get twenty billion bits of whatever and put them all into a BP to spawn a single ship. tbh I think that killed some of the creativity of the game too, since players want to shorten their BP lists and as such no longer...
I feel like the whole thing could have been simplified in the way Schine wants without the weird, unnecessary mechanics by simply requiring that all groups need a conduit from the reactor to touch them to work.
You can't fix an inherently flawed system. Stabilizers are so fucked there's no conceivable way you can do it without ruining something or making them pointless.
Perhaps this might be a learning experience that listening to your playerbase can save you a lot of wasted effort and make your game...
Essentially, but no one strategy should be more viable than others. Currently, that strategy is speed and range tanking, and slow, armored, single entity ships are completely non-viable.
Tbh I kind of count myself square in the middle of both camps, but meta is always something found out by the players that (optimally) the devs should try to balance out to keep all playstyle equal. Schine, however, seems to have a hard time doing this.
Why would you put something that soaks up damage when you could put nothing which can't even take damage in the first place?
To clarify, you have nothing at all to gain by making your ship shorter (read: reasonably long) and everything to lose.
"It's up to us not to use these designs"
If I ever see you on a multiplayer server in the new build, I'm going to use it, and I'm going to spawnkill you with it. This I promise you.
Telling the players not to use something because it's overpowered is a surefire way to have them do exactly that.
