Devblog 11th July 2017 - End Goal Document Part 1

Not to be off topic, but, there really isnt anything most 500k mass ships can do, in the generalist and RP categories, that can stand up to spammed, dirt cheap drones. these small, lightweight drones deal up to 100k DPS per drone. Up to 400k shield DPS if some are suing Ion effect but are more...

      StarMade Ship Size Comparison Chart

Jake_Lancia Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake The chart is losing proportional Orangeness. I suggest KDI Wyvern Heavy Cruiser is added to it, largest KDI NPC ship thus far to pad out the 240m marks

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

Missiles are technically in the god-tier of block DPS along with an efficient cannon-cannon-punch. There is no reason to not use these for block removal. Beam/cannon makes a close second to that tier, but only ticks 5x a second. Specific set ups of beam/cannon can be as deadly as the cannons...

KDI "Drum" VLS [Vertical Launch System] MBPi Turret 2017-07-09

The Drum is the heaviest VLS system currently* used by my NPCs and fleet ships. It is however, fully encased in ADV armour. If weight is a concern, you can strip the armour back to basic or standard, replacing dark grey ADV with dark grey standard, and replacing Grey Advanced with dark grey hull...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

A little this and a little that. But what we mean is that cannon/pulse systems, yes, it has the odd uses (Like compact super-penetration arrays by stacking outputs), But overall the weapon when scaled up has horrible efficiency due to Schema's damage fall off VS blocks with alpha damage. And...

KDI "Roller" VLS [Vertical Launch System] MBPi Turret MK1

Its a little small for proper combat, but might be handy for disassembly by newer players, or as an inspiration for similar turrets. "barrel" carries a 115/82/115 Missile/Beam/Pierce. Is not self sufficient on power. I highly recommend you don't use JUST these VS AMS, you need some decoy...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

Nope... Beams "Piercing" effect is technically punch. Since the damage readoff shows damage per penetration... This throws into doubt whether you have played the game in the last few months or done tests. Cannon projectile loses damage as it breaks blocks when it hits them Beams create a...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

But beams have inherent PIERCE, this effect allows them to pass through multiple blocks anyway. Beam's latent penetration and Cannon latent penetration is roughly similar. Not really. You can fire a beam when you have less than the capacity required to fire the whole beam burst. Yes, you still...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

ALSO NOTE: Beam/Beam ticks 5 times over its burst period. this is significantly better block destruction potential than a Cannon/Pulse. Due to the 1s burst time, Beams put a lwoer strain on the power capacity of a ship, as it can regen 1 x [power regen/s] during the course of firing the...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

"Meta" means a standard protocol that is known to work in over 60% of cases, And "should" work in overcoming most opponents based on game mechanics in use. You are not in that "most" bracket

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

no, Pulse-slaved weapons (Besdies beam-pulse and missile-pulse for Ion alpha and giant nukes) are NOT effective weapons at all for killing blocks on an enemy ship. The meta as it stands is spam piercing missiles at about 200/200/200 ish (to taste and ship size firing it) and use beam-cannon...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

I imagine the way it would work is split its damage, on impact, into "beams" with a radius continuing from its angle of incidence. It will create odd cylinders unless the middle "impact beams" are stronger than the outside once - Im not sure if this is possible, but should bypass explosion...

      Damage Pulse, the forgotten weapon

How about I saw somewhere, Make Pulse a "Plasma caster" type of weapon a slow projectile with the range of a beam that damages a [INSERT SHAPE PATTERN HERE] against the enemy ship. Radius is coded by the damage, meaning a dreadnought's main battery can - as would be in all Sci fi cases -...

      Stealing Npc Ships

yeah, you can test in single player using /faction_set_entity -1 or -2 on a test ship docked to a HB and shooting at it.

      Stealing Npc Ships

Actually, ANYTHING docked to a homebase that is not the same faction as the homebase does not gain homebase immunity. This is to stop Public Docker Alt-Faction-Homebases to house fleets of another faction for free and with complete security away from their actual HB.

      Heavy Cannons(Battleship type)

The only issue is Cannon/pulse/explosive has no "Projectile Scaling". Would be great is Explosive made the cannon do a cone-shaped damage pattern in full, and each hit generates an X radius circle. As the damage drops off, the circle radius also drops. THis creates a viable alternative to alpha...

      Devblog 13th June 2017

I assume that these new Rail Load and Unload blocks for cargo between entities will respect things like the "Change cargo to Auto-pull" rules, etc? And does this mean mining drones have gotten more tedious, as we then have to set each drone to be "Only ask for different faction"? This makes it...

Add "Exclude Block" to Pick/replace tools

As title, We all like the pick/replace tool we have to removing and recolouring large sections of 1 block... ...But what about the other way around? We should be able to select a block (Preferably a list, or category of blocks) that will be "Protected" from removal by the build tool until...
